Good day everyone! My fiance and I apply for K1 Visa and now we are on the medical and interview stage. I, the beneficiary, just noticed that my father's middle name on my birth certificate has an error on it. Other than that, other data on my birth certificate are correct. Will my father's erroneous middle name reflected on my birth certificate affect the visa process? Please help. Thanks!

What kind of error is it? A one-letter typo, a completely different middle name?

I have a feeling it's not that big of a deal. Was the info on the certificate hand-written? My birth certificate shows I was born in 1988 but the same certificate shows it was officially filed with the registrar in 1987. It happens, hospital staff are rushed.

If you want to be extra safe you can attach a statement mentioning the error, along with a copy of your dad's government issued ID showing the true name.

Hi shumway1756!

It is a one-letter typo and type-written. Indeed, thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks for your advice. Noted!

Do you think another option could be just follow my father's erroneous middle name  and just edit my DS-160 so that all of my father's data are matched in all documents? But then again, it wouldn't match the approved I-129F.
