Photos and holiday cards - photocopy?

I understand that photos and copies of holiday cards/ invites aren't crucial. However, for those that submit them, do you actually go out and get colour prints of the photos, or will black and white photocopies or grey scale print outs be sufficient? All my photos are digital and stored on a computer, I haven't had a print of a photo done in decades!

Similar also with holiday cards. I was thinking of just photocopying the inside messages of a selection covering the years since we got married, and those that are addressed to us both.

What have others done when sending copies of photos and cards?

I didn't do cards, but I uploaded the digital copies of the photos to Walgreen's and had full color photos made, it was pretty cheap.

I made color copies of photos and other colored documents. I know it may have been more than necessary, but with this kind of process, and given that it's not expensive to get color prints, I wanted all of my submitted docs and pics to be crystal clear.

I used color copies of photos; luckily my parents have a great printer and glossy paper for that. I would not submit black and white photos. You want the best quality evidence you can provide.

Thank you all so much for the responses.

I was an early adopter of digital photography (2002), and as such, my memories of having prints made was that they weren't cheap. That was one of the main reasons I switched to digital and never went back to having prints. However, times have changed and you are all right - getting photo prints done these days  is very inexpensive! I checked Walmart (they're nearer than Walgreens to me) and it really is inexpensive. Also, it appears that they can all be uploaded online and then collected when they're ready.

Only problem I have now is choosing which photos to use! I'm trying to have a selection that covers everything from our marriage date right up to the present. We have lots of family dinners, gatherings with friends and family, trips out with close friends and more. I guess I will choose the best quality that and even span of time.

One other question - how do people present these photos in their I-751 submission? Did you glue them to a sheet of paper, or staple them? I'd like to fit approx. 3 per page and give details under each showing location, time, date and who is in the photos. It will actually make a nice picture diary for us showing all the people that we've been involved with since we got married. I'm tempted to have two sets of prints made!
