I suggest an actual joint sponsor not a household member who is contributing income but also contributes to household size.

i have read that some have requested during the interview to get a co-sponsor, but they didn't tell my husband that, it was just refused. my question is can we just submit a satisfactory new sponsorship, or do we have to wait for another process? such as for it to come back to the states and get denial letters and appeal?

If they refused it’s because they’re not satisfied with anything evidence you have and won’t change their mind if you submit anything else. You have to formally appeal their decision with a new co-sponsor. my thoughts to you is get a new co-sponsor with income way higher than the required level so there are no chances of them denying you. A lot of people have reported on this forum that they don’t like it when you just barely make the cut and flat out deny because they don’t think you’re gonna be able to financially support them. Get a new co-sponsor and formally file the appeal. Then get your congressman involved so you can maybe get it moving a little faster. Unfortunately these things move as fast as USCIS want them to so be prepared for it to take a while.

This...I was perplexed why you would add a person who your sharing rent with...and if your barely making ends then you need a good co-sponsor like others are saying. If they denied it once I'm sure they will really need concrete evidence now, you have an uphill battle on your hands so try to be more pro-active and give the best evidence instead of just limping in with barely meeting the requirments. I agree with them....it really does sound like you aren't financially able to support him.

I don't share rent. The co sponsor owns house!!!! We work and within the past year I have taken temporary emergency custody of what was two children now only one which increased our household size.

Thank you so much for your response. Yes I have been in contact with the Congressional office.  For the formal appeal I would have to wait for uscis to contact us first correct?

Do you think the reason for denial because it has been 3 years since you last saw your husband? Ghana is a very difficult embassy and just like Nigeria, they take face time very serious..My only suggestion will be to get more face time in and maybe that will help..

I never said is been three years since I seen him. That's how long we've been married. My last trip was 2017. They denied on public charge.

You’ll receive a letter from them formally explaining the denial. It will tell you how to proceed after that.
