Hey everyone,

So we just registered to get our interview and we are still waiting. Does anyone know how long the Johannesburg consulate takes to get the interview ball rolling?? Right now it states there are "No available appointments". Our email letter from the consulate on next steps for K-1 visa/instructions was sent on May 10th. Then it says something about 1-4 weeks to schedule interview from the date the NVC receives package from consulate, is this said "package" the DS-160 form?? I am totally lost on that bit. I am in hypervigilant mode and don't want to miss a thing! Thanks everyone for ANY help on these issues.

Best,

Megan

I would email the embassy and tell them you are waiting on PKt3 because pkt 3 will allow you fill the DS160 and it will show available interview dates

I understand what you mean, when i check on their website to book i only got 26th of July available and now when i check there again, there are no available dates anymore, i would have been very angry with myself if i did not choose that 26th the other day. Give them a call about this.

What is packet 3? We already filled in and sent the DS-160. We are waiting on the interview date so we can schedule a Medical exam and waiting on the birth certificate. Is there some other packet that comes in the mail? The consulate just emailed me directions to proceed with the interview process and that is what we've been doing but I am seeking clarity. Thanks for the help!

Yeah we should call them. Do they go off of when you "signed up" for the profile I wonder and adjust dates accordingly. Our expiration date is August 13th so I am pretty scared actually. It'll probably be fine but I am nervous. Thanks for the reply.

No, I believe they will update the system when there are more available appointments but I don't know how they determine that. Is it per case and when the people signed up on this specific site or is it when they received the approved petition? I have no idea what is going on haha.

I believe they put in available slots in the website. For example, 15 booking on a particular date, once the 15 available numbers of booking is reached on that website then that date becomes unavailable until someone from the embassy team review them and makes it available again or make the next date available, they are trying not to let people overbook past what they can attend to since they cannot identify you until you pick a successful appointment with them..

About your expiration I believe petitions expires in 12 months. After the first 4 months is exhausted you should the embassy a call to extend it by another 4 months...

If it was me i will call them. It’s also possible to book an appointment over the phone...
