Police Record info?

Good day all,

We just got our NOA2 yesterday (yay!) and are in the process of gathering everything else. She and I are both confused about the police records. She was born in the UK, however she spent 2010-2017 in the US (as the family of a Diplomat). Would she need to obtain a police record during these years? I think yes, however when they run a background check on her, it's going to reveal the results and more of the police record she would try to get. A redundant effort in my opinion. However, on the safe side, she would need to obtain one from the US?

Thanks!

No. She doesn't need to. In places she's lived in last five years, if her living in the US falls in that time frame, one they will have seen it on the I-129f petition during the USCIS phase and ran a background check here in the US on her like they did on you basically. Also since she had said she had been to the US before, using an "A" number I presume you listed, that would trigger them to do the check anyways.

My husband had spent 2 years on 2 different J-1 internships in NY prior to us meeting a year or two later. No US police report was needed.

She just needs to obtain the UK police report and for any other countries she lived in(if applicable) other than the US.

Once they book the interview in London, it'll say "US police certificates are not required" for extra piece of mind! I was in the USA previously for 12 months on a J1 and had my visa approved with no issues.
