That's exactly what I said in my post.....

You kinda did.  Except... even if you read the report behind the article, how will you know what bias the article writer (or report publisher) may (or may not) have?  You and I can read the same report, and draw different conclusions from it, right?  Doesn’t make the report flawed, just means we perceive things differently.

At the end of the day, each individual will believe what (s)he believes, and will be unlikely to change their opinion on most matters.  They will simply align themselves with people who feel similarly to them.  It’s human nature.

And it’s the same way with “race” (using the term loosely)... we as creatures tend to hang with those like us.  Zebras do it, gazelles, giraffes, bison, etc.  It’s in our very nature to stick with what we know for the maximum support and security.  Doesn’t mean zebras hate/disrespect giraffes, doesn’t mean they are “racist” against one another.  Just different.  I see the same thing with humans, in every nation I have ever resided.  (Sorry, drifted :ot: there for a moment)

Zebras and Giraffes are different species. Not races. There is a huge difference :bonk:

There are several types of Zebras. They all get along just great when they are together. They don't seem to notice any difference.

Also even within the species of giraffes (Plains, Grevys and Mountain) there are subspecies (most equivalent to races) which all comingle, breed, live together etc...

I would also add -

Zebras very frequently hang out with giraffes. They get along great. They eat different foods, and the zebras like the giraffes as lookouts.

So even among different species the metaphor doesn't really work. Pretty much on all levels the metaphor doesn't work.

Our issues with race are purely a human construct. Other species don't really exhibit the same distrust/dislike for other members of the same species.

As opposed to hundreds of biased "media" sources on the internet?

Sure.  When you have three of four media outlets all with the same bias you get very one sided coverage that is packaged as truthful information.

Do you interact (outside of work) with people of your own color/culture, or do you mix with other races on a regular basis.

Not buying it.  There are symbiotic relationships where animals help each other and therefore get along well (remora/shark, clown/anenome both quickly come to mind), but that isn’t really the case with humans except in dire circumstances.  I see myself as someone who can get along with just about anyone I have ever lived around, but I find myself mostly among people of my own “type”... color/culture, language patterns, etc.  And I have seen such in every country in which I have lived over the years.  That’s why places such as “Chinatown” or “Mexicantown” or “Filipino Village” exist.  It’s a tribal thing, and will exist as long as humans are on this planet.

There are several types of Zebras.

Years ago, I wanted to learn whether zebras are white with black stripes, or the converse.

I called a large zoo and politely asked to be transferred to the Zebra Department.

I was duly transferred, but the phone rang and rang without answer.

Perhaps the staff were all occupied, restriping the zebras.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

I am surrounded by Muricans so have no options.

Why are you bringing up symbiotic relationships? Same with Zebra vs Giraffe, those are relationships between SPECIES and they have no place in a discussion about relationship between RACES, which is a "subspecies" classification. The comparison would be valid only if we were talking about how humans get along with chimps (Planet of the Apes style), or how humans would have gotten along with other hominid species when they were extant. The fact that you've brought up relationships between species twice now to compare to relationships between humans (First with Zebras and Giraffes, and now with symbiotic relationships) suggest you don't quite understand the difference here.

The closest thing to a 'race' among animals would be sub-types of species. As I said - An example of that would be subtypes of Plains Zebras (there are 2 or 3 I think?). Or another example would be subspecies of the Common Chimpanzee. Those are taxonomy that have been defined by humans, often times due to geographical separation and subtle physical differences. They frequently don't cohabitate in the wild, but that is due to geographical reasons. Not due to "keeping with their own". As far as I'm aware, you can put different subspecies of Common Chimpanzees together and they get along just fine, and don't seem to recognize the difference (beyond their normal initial fear/mistrust of any new chimp, since they are inherently social animals). For sure subspecies of Plains Zebras get along fine, because I've seen them in the wild myself. Heck even different SPECIES (again, not a reasonable comparison to race) of Zebras get along fine when they are together (Plains and Grevys Zebras do have some overlapping territory in East Africa).

It's certainly a tribal thing...but still not something we've seen in other animals.

Ahem.  We tolerate human beings, inferior as they are.

[indignant] There is nothing "common" about chimpanzees, trust us.

That depends on whether they voted for Trump or Hillary.

The first thing that we learn is their voting record, which determines whether they shall be accepted or shunned.

You should have attended our party this weekend -- more fun than (yes) a barrel of monkeys!
