Does the "L" in MDL mean Liberal or Lunatic?

Well there is nothing liberal about encouraging children to be trafficked.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I don't disagree with you, but the US does not have an official language so you can't require it.

Anybody who thinks the MDL really care is living in cloud cuckoo land, wonder what would happen if they dropped them of in San Fran, let the bleating begin.

1) I don't know what an MDL is but as a Moderate Democrat, yes, we do care.

I have a kid. Were I in that position of fleeing third world conditions or cartel violence, I would not want my toddler taken away.

No I don't think we are obligated to end suffering on this planet, but as the wealthiest country (total GDP) in the world, I do think we have some obligation to those who land on our doorstep requesting asylum from atrocious conditions, at the very least not to rip their infants away purely for sport.

2) This issue was not about conservative vs liberal or Dem vs Republican. The outcry came forcefully from both Parties (from just about everywhere actually, aside from apologist Fox News commentators).

3) Surely there are wingnut extremists on both sides, so don't lump us all in together. Just because a small minority of leftist extremists might call for such absurdity as abolishing ICE altogether or such, means nothing. No Democrat politicians are saying that border security is not important. And flaming the fringes of both sides is just what our geopolitical enemies want. United we stand, Divided we fall.

This is a prime MDL position. Obviously they vary,  these people are quite happy to let everybody know their morale outrage as long as it does not impinge on their lavish lifestyle.

They no doubt could house and feed the migrants just use their spare bedrooms.

Peter Fonda's outrageous tweet has made me extremely angry.......and it should anger every decent human........it will be interesting to see exactly who will condemn such an attack on a child and his family...

I have a kid, I would never have them accompany me on a criminal activity were I so inclined.

How many doorsteps have they shown up at before they arrived at ours?

I doubt sport is the motivation for the family separations but as a moderate Democrat add some gas to that fire

This is not someone going off out of no where, he is enforcing the laws as they are currently written

Illegal border crossing may not seem a crime to you but it is, always has been. Enforcing the law is not criminal breaking it is

Sadly I think we both know the answer to that.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I’m not much of a praying person, but I sincerely hope we don’t have to read about a child raped in detention because of this.

You probably will not read about, certainly has happened in other locations, Calais for example.

Oh, we WILL read about it if it happens after today.  A sample headline might read”

”Trump’s EO causes child to be raped in prison”

or

”Current admin is willing to lock children up with criminals, and now a child has been abused”

A nation without borders isn't a nation.

I traveled much in my 20s and seen and experienced many different cultures, cuisine and languages.  At every port of entry, I was asked for my passport.  Mostly in Europe, they simply stamped my passport and I went on my way.  There have been times I needed a bit more documentation and my flight itinerary proving I would be leaving their country as promised.  While entering New Zealand, Australia, South Korea and China I was asked multiple questions by immigration agents about where I was staying, what I would be doing, and who I was staying with.  I needed a visa stamp to enter the Republic of China legally as well.  As a guest of a foreign nation, I am expected to observe the country's laws or be given the heave hoe.  That includes entering that nation legally at a point of entry.

In the case of the foreign migrants, as MSNBC or Huffington Post would describe them, our immigration laws are not being observed and the penalty of entering without proper clearance is arrest and deportation.  Now IF, these migrants are going to a point of entry and want to claim asylum, that's another matter that can be decided by the powers that be.  Honestly, the way I see it, the children are being used in this case to tug at the emotions of the American public for some kind of political agenda ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.  Republicans for the most part want to enforce the law that is presently in place.  Democrats want to stir up a psydo-crisis to show how heartless their opposition are, and to gain political points without a real solution.  That's just my 2 cents.

If I get behind the wheel of a car and maliciously strike a pedestrian because of roadrage, or because I was intoxicated or distracted....I have broken the law.  If I break the law of my own city, state, country...I will be arrested and split apart from my family.  And nobody will show TV crews and reporters at my home interviewing my children about how terrible it is that they are separated from their father.
