Getting Passport for Stepdaughter . . . Or N-600 . . .

So, my wife finally got her naturalization, we changed her SS card and DL today and are going to apply for her passport next week.  That’s not a worry.  However, we also want a passport for my stepdaughter . . . However, we’re wondering about custody.

 

Mother and Bio Father were never married.

Never got a formal custody letter, however my wife does have An Authorization for a Minor to Travel Abroad where it states that my stepdaughter will be going to live in my city so my wife and I can marry.  It also mentions, like page four among page sixteen, that my wife has sole custody.

There is no way we’d get relinquishment of rights from bio father if we could even find him.

 

1.) So, I’m hoping that if we send the Authorization for a Minor to Travel Abroad, along with the other documents, that should be enough for my stepdaughter’s passport?  Should we include something else, like school documents?

2.) Since we need to send originals, I suppose we have to apply first for my wife, with her naturalization certificate, and then apply afterwards for my stepdaughter, and not simultaneously?

3.) With possible complications, should we go ahead and also apply for N-600 at the same time?
