K3 visa holder applying for AOS - Should I use the A#?

Hello,

I have a A# number related question. I recently entered the U.S. on K3 visa while the I-130 is pending at VT center. I have decided to apply for AOS instead of consular processing. I am getting the AOS packet ready. The approved I-129F approval notice that allowed me to get the K3 visa had an A# on it. The consulate printed that same number on the stamped visa in the annotation field.

Q1: Does this mean I have a valid A# ? or is it temporary transaction identifier assigned by USCIS for internal purposes?

Q2: Should I put that A-number on the AOS forms (I-485 etc...) Is this a good idea? My concern is if that number is input in their systems, would come up with an expired(used) I-129F approval.

Thanks very much for your help.

1. Yes, that is your A# and will remain your A# on anything you file with USCIS.

2. Yes, you should put that number on the forms. Doesn't matter if the I-129F is expired.

I came with a k-3 visa and I didn't have a A number (only the visa number). When I did the AOS, my A# came in the NOA1.

So, in the I-485 I answered "None" for A#...

Are you sure that you already have a A# in your visa? Because I have only a "visa number" and a "control number" in my.

The A# is on the approved I-129F and doesn't always appear on the visa itself.

sobby,

Of course it's a good idea to give your A# - they ask you for the A# because they want to know what it is if you have one. They very much do want to locate your previous case files and keep them all together as you move through the immigration process.
