To many American English speakers, "intimate" implies a sexual relationship. I am sure you mean otherwise and should use "close" or a similar term to describe your relationship to avoid stares.

LMAO I even googled to make sure I don't mean it that way...

I saw "closely acquainted; familiar" and was like "yeah I'm safe to use it"...

Yes, he didn't know this and thought it would be easy, too. My mother has always been next to me and supported me no matter what and accepted the fact that I'm gay, she even met my fiance. She basically means a lot to me. But I've found the right person I will settle down and build my future with, so yes, I would've still gone for it, it's gonna be tough but I've always wanted to settle down with someone I love and someone who loves me back.

I think most of us had some notion toward the beginning that this wouldn't be the fiasco that it is. Reality hits hard when reality sets in. I thought I'd have my wife a CR1 visa in 4-5 months... Boy was I wrong. Wish I knew about VJ before I read all of the terribly outdated websites out there.

The OP has an interesting Visa Journey.

It appears they are in this just to get family to US.....

You need to give us some details on where you and your mother are from...then we can give you some more details on if and when your mother can visit the US. some countries are easier then others to get visitor visa's.

Family? I literally just said ONLY my mother, as she's someone I care about and she might just stay alone when I travel since she's divorced and my other relatives live outside Lebanon.

Probably not an obvious candidate for a visitor visa.

Don't worry. A lot of VJ members have some unexplained issues with people sponsoring their parents. ;) I'm shocked no one asked you yet if you'll be able to afford your mother's healthcare.

It just seems to me a lot of people don't give a s*** about their parents honestly, and this is actually sad. Very sad.

I understand there are cultural differences, I get it. You are close to your mother. Here in the US, it seems odd that a grown up is inseparable from her/his mother.

Besides, your future husband makes 20k (maybe a lot in your country but it is bare minimum in the US)  a year, living with his parents and siblings, so how are you going to support your mother when she is here?

I would be damned if I had to move half way around the world to be with my kids.

There it is. :D :D VJ looking into people's wallets is the nastiest thing I see on this forum. And it comes up eeeevery time someone wants to sponsor parents. Honestly.

I'm not exactly inseperable, I just care about her well being and what she will do once I travel.

We'll figure out what we can do when the right day comes, which apparently is after 7-8 years.
