Immigrating to US and returning to Canada for 1-2 weeks before moving

My spouse and children (i’m the US citizen) will be attending ir1/ir2 interviews shortly and assuming all goes well, we plan on moving to the US in august.

Based on our summer schedule it appears that my 16 yr old daughter may have to arrive by plane after the rest of us immigrate first.

She could immigrate at that point but I’m concerned that if there are any hang ups at the border entry, she wouldn’t be able to handle it alone.

to mitigate this, I thought our family could “immigrate” to the USA by driving to the border (we live at a border town) for a day trip while we are all together. Then return to Canada for two week before we fly out (and then another 10-14 days later for my daughter).  Then the whole family has immigration status to minimize complications for declaring date of immigration when flying in, especially for my daughter as she’s flying alone.

Is is there any risk here by doing it this way? Or just stick to immigrating on the actual date we enter the US?

Zero issues.  Just remember they wont be covered by provincial health care during their short return to Canada so purchase some travel insurance for that time.
