I don’t want to behave like Rapid Visa but there have been enough anecdotes on this site in the 2 years I have been here to say that you are not alone in this  experience and that you shouldn’t think doomsday yet. Call Monday and then at least you will have the word from those who make the decisions. Come back and let us know.. we are hoping  to hear your good news !! 😁

I have filed one of their little email help things on their contact page -- and I'll call them Monday as soon as I can. :( Thank you so much for the help!

As noted, some embassies/consulates will automatically renew the petiton's approval. But calling to make sure is best.

Absolute worse case is the petition expired and they will not renew it...although I don't think this is likely. There's no hard rule, AFAIK, that they cannot extend a petition's validity period (even retroactively).

Previously, London was one that did NOT automatically renew, and required an updated letter of intent. I don't know if that's still the case though. I also don't recall anyone being denied/rejected due to an expired NOA2 and the consulate not willing to extend it.

Our application "expired" while we were waiting for the medical appt so we made sure to contact the embassy as soon as we noticed the expiration date. They told us we had to have a current "intent to marry", which was brought to the interview, and we had no problems. My wife had her interview April 2017 so I'd say it's still recent enough to consider it normal procedure.

Thank you, I'm going to call them first thing Monday morning and hope they give us a resolution with little hitches like this, fingers crossed!

That is comforting, thank you! I will get instructions from the consulate on Monday morning and from there, hopefully be able to go forward with better direction.

updates incoming:

So with no actual way to speak to a human being about visa issues or queries in the UK / US embassy ( and having got to speak to a human once and being told curtly "do what the letter says" with no more guidance offered ) I filled out the "help form" on their website with my case number and waited for a response. It was quick. And their reply was simple. If you've extended the date of the petition, you need a new letter of intent -- please being it to your interview. Okay. Cool.

So, fine. I got my fiance to write one up, he sent it the very next day and I got it a week later and put it in my pile of visa/embassy/relationship things ready for when I can book an interview date.

Around about four days later after receiving the letter of intent -- a letter arrives from the embassy stating "as of this date we have had no reply from you."

"If you wish to proceed with your K1 application you will be required to submit a reaffirmation letter from your sponsor to update the I-129F petition. Please bring a reaffirmation letter to your appointment."

I panicked, I called them. I managed to speak to a person who would not help me in any way or even explain what the letter wanted me to do exactly. So, I'm writing them a letter, attaching the new letter of intent and sending it on to them and hoping for the best. :( I'll then get my partner to send me another updated one for my interview (not booked yet, still have a couple of things to get together.) I think this is what they want me to do? Without being able to contact an actual person, it is very difficult waiting on the hopes they reply to an email or help form. Hopefully this is what they're asking.
