Paul read an article Sunday morning that some England fans went and ransacked Ikea stores over the fact that they beat Sweden. I'm not sure what purpose that serves. Hopefully it's not even true. <_<

 

I'm proud of the Swedes. Really wish they had scored AT LEAST one point, but they put up a good fight defense wise. Nobody gave England more of a run for their money than Colombia did, though. Paul is rooting for England at this point, at any rate, now that Sweden's out of the running.

I don't think it was a "ransack" as much as lot of fans jumping on beds. There was video and it looked worse than it probably actually was. If it had gotten too out of hand I'm sure there would have been some some news of arrests or detainment. That doesn't excuse the behavior, though.

 

My livestream of the game was a few minutes behind so I knew a goal or card was going to happen before I saw it, but the Swedes gave me a heart attack a few times with some close goals. If Pickford hadn't been on top of it during the second half it could have easily gone into overtime.

 

For the semi finals, I think that England will beat Croatia. France will beat Belgium. Belgium will beat Croatia. France will beat England.

 

Still rooting for England. 52 years of hurt never stopped me dreaming.

MANY close calls. My husband was on the edge of his seat. Lots of pacing. lol

 

Swedes were just happy to be there. The Ikea thing is annoying, personally, but it is what it is - perhaps the store associates found it in all good fun for all anyone knows. My husband made a good point - fans like that can be obnoxious, but the England team itself is a good team and he's rooting for them now that Sweden's out. He thinks they have a good chance of going all the way.

 

My favorite part was the English commentator afterwards finally getting his phone and just walking out mid-airing while they were discussing the game post-win.  :lol: He was like, "Look, I got people to see and beer to drink, BYE". :P

The behavior of some English 'fans' after the game was disgusting, I'm English and that's embarrassing, there is no excuse for it and I hope those responsible are caught and charged accordingly

My parents and younger sister had an Italian student living with them this past year. She laughed so hard when the US didn't make the World Cup. Needless to say, we returned the favor when Italy missed out.
