Sharing my parents' approved visitor visas scenario.

My dad and mom (above 75 years old) applied for a tourist visa at US Embassy, Kathmandu, Nepal and were approved.  I didn't send any letter of invitation nor did they bring any financial documents since such documents weren't allowed (see attached image on required documents). They had a translator as my parents don't speak English.

The conversations:

1. Who are you visiting in the US? - Our son (and daughter in law)

2. When did your son go to the US? - 12 years ago and has been coming to visit us every few years.

3. Seems your son is already a US Citizen (Statement more than a question)

4. Are you planning to live in the US? - No, we just want to visit US for around 4-5 months.

5. Ok, your visas are approved, take this receipt which shows the location to collect your passports in a few days.

Yeah, the age might also have been a factor. They don’t see elderly parents planning to live in the US compared to ones in 50s or 60s.

My mother in law was approved for her tourist visa today, as well. Don't know the interview details yet but my wife and I are happy. She used a travel service in Colombia who gave her great advise before she went in for her interview. We didn't attempt to try to "sponsor" her or anything. She was simply going to say that she wanted to visit her daughter in America and then return to Colombia. In this case, her age (in her late 60's), her pension, her health service in Colombia, her total lack of English, and her remaining son in Colombia were all fairly strong factors for her returning to Colombia after any visit.

@arken I know it's an old thread. I'm trying to apply for my parents as well. I'm filling out DS-160 form and i had quick 2 questions.

A. Did you just fill out application in English and will there be someone in embassy for translation, my Parents don't speak English.

B. How do we ensure that both parents get same interview date. I did put my mother's information on father's travel companion.
