You have to try to find somebody with enough power to can check about your case at the Consulate . I hope you'll get an answer to at least one of your letters....try to ask the Consulate about an estimate time they can put you an interview date...some countries have a long long waiting list appointment.

Hope to hear good news from you soon.

Timeline

That's a crappy timeline :( I have read around here that the interview backlog in the DR is around 2 years. I can't imagine.

The most helpful thing you can do for yourself is to contact your member of congress. Go to www.house.gov. You can use your zip code to determine your representative. Look up his/her website. Find the phone number for the district office (that's the one in or close to your hometown, NOT the Capitol Office in Washington). Call and ask to speak with whoever handles immigration casework.

Explain your situation and be prepared to fax over your important documents like NOA1 and 2, your State Department ID number, etc. Have your case number at least at the ready, along with non-USC birthdate and name.

If that office seems unresponsive, you can also try either of your US Senators - find them at www.senate.gov - each state has 2. Also call their district office and ask for the same sort of staff person. Don't blanket call all of them without mentioning if you've called others, so there's not triple, uncoordinated efforts going on.

Call one of them TODAY.

Let us know what happenes.

DR has a two year backlog. Everyone going through the consulate there is experiencing the same delay.

Yeah, everyone going through Dominican Republic gets hit with the same delay. I doubt unless there is a very good reason, that they will expedite your case over everyone else's. In the immigration timelines on this site, the DR records have an average of 431 days wait for an interview.

Again, abso-freaking-ridiculous... Its like the CSC/VSC time difference unfairness but MUCH MUCH worse... How is it so many consulates can get an interview out in a few months but the DR takes 2 years??? Why can't one of the Bush twins fall in love with someone from there, then things would change ;) Good luck on the letter writing however. You never know unless you try!

That wait is terrible, of course you know that. I have read on here though that the wait in Dominican Republic is very long. I wonder if it's because they don't have enough consulates or other embassy staff there. I would definitely contact your Senator/Congressman directly and complain. Not sure anything will happen, but the squeeky wheel gets the oil you know.

I feel for you having to be apart for so long. I'll pray for you that your interview gets done soon!

1. The letters are paying off... received an e-mail from the mayor and got a call from the House Rep., gave them all the info and they said they will do their best to help.

2. I think the wait is so long because of all the corruption that was discovered a few years back, they still have cases on the list since 1981!!! Now they are trying to FIX their mess up.

3. Thanks for your prayers, indeed is VERY hard to be appart from "mi more"

Honestly, with a wait that long, it would almost pay off to immigrate to some other country first and then try to immigrate to the US from there. :( I hope they can pull some strings and get you through in a more reasonable time because 2 years is just insane. In cases where there is clearly a problem like that, the government should allow you to use an embassy in a nearby country.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!
