good point...i am for seniors disocunt on a fixed income..their main expense is medical..if they have medicare only and no supplement...they have to pay 20%....also, my parents have a supplement and pay about $385 a month ( on my mom) for the 20% coverage..

discounts should be for anyone, not just a selective group of ppl.

This is a little backwards.

After all, if the business can survive on 1-2% why not let it do so?

What about companies that sell some products at cost as a pull through item for other more profitable products…

I don't see the harm in letting the older people get a little discount on gas....

most older people have to live off a set amount of money each month...

The amount we live on is essentially set, too. We're both salaried...

I'm a little surprised that people want to take away elderly discounts. What kind of country are we?

Everyone had the option of being a sports booster, thus a discount. I think this smacks in the face of free enterprise. Business is business, why isn't it ok to give some people discounts if they participate in a program and not others, what about the discount grocery card everyone has, or the sandwhich stamp.

The thing with "free enterprise" is that it often fkucs over the people at the bottom of the economic ladder who can least afford to pay the price. Elderly retirees on fixed incomes are one of those groups. If you've been paying taxes into the system for 40+ years, its really that unreasonable to be cut a little slack? Given the numbers of people we're talking about here - its hardly going to upset the apple cart.

Sports groups are another issue however...
