Hi everyone I am new to this site. I didn't even know it was here a few days ago. I have some questions regarding the interview for my wife. She is going to the US Mumbai consulate. Okay to the point.

I am a born citizen and I married my wife about a year and half ago I met her through my uncles friend, which I've known since childhood. Her parents are very simple people and very religious so they did not want and extravagant wedding party we went to the gurduwara did a marriage ceremony with about 15 people which included my parents and hers and some of my cousins. After all that, me being American, I wanted a huge crazy reception party which I had soon after and it was great! So my question is that my wife has pictures of the wedding ceremony but it's not an album (maybe small album) and it's not very extravagant or party like. It is just the ceremony, because like I said her parents are very simple very religious people, but she also has a huge reception album with the whole crazy party too. All my other paper work is in order (marriage certificate, taxes, form, etc.)

Would this cause my wife any problems?

Because we had a small marriage?

Should she take both albums?

Anyone else been in this situation of a small marriage?

Thanks everyone.

It does not matter how big or small your wedding was. As far as the marriage is considered, you need to have documentary proof, which you have. Photos and everything are needed to prove that your marriage is bonafide. So you can show as many photos from as many celebrations and parties as you wish.

It is not going to be an issue for sure.

My husband and I had 2 weddings too even tho we didn’t intend to. Unfortunately the judge that was assigned to us didn’t agree to do civil wedding outside the courthouse. Since we already made arrangements for like a big wedding, we decided to get a pastor to officiate the wedding and then we where scheduled for a civil wedding. The first wedding was attended by 90 people while the civil wedding had only 5. I brought the photo albums for the both weddings and in the end the CO didn’t even bother look at them. I volunteered them and he said no that’s okay! Actually, he didn’t look at all the proof of relationship I brought with me. Interview lasted about 3 mins and my CR1 Visa was approved :) That was just a week ago btw! Good luck! You should be okay!

Ps. We only submitted our Marriage Certificate and photos for the wedding which only had 5 people :) The COs are trained to determine whether the marriage is fraud or not. So there is nothing to worry about especially when the truth is what you have :)

You shouldn't be worried! They look for genuine relationship and most of the time they are okay with few photos. Officers in Mumbai are aware of local customs regarding arranged marriage and rituals. The number doesn't matter, who attended matters to them.
