Unemployed/Job Change

I’m Canadian. My fiance originally sent the I-129F petition out in October 2017, but it is assumed to have been lost in the mail because they have no record of it, and it never came back to him. Due to a series of many, many more really well-timed setbacks, we have been unable to send a new petition yet. However, we had a plan to hopefully, FINALLY be able to get it sent next week. Unfortunately, I lost my job today, so the information on the petition will have to be changed before he sends it again, which means I will be listed as unemployed. I don’t want to wait even longer until I get a new job to send this thing, will there be an issue if I get a new job by the time I have the interview or if I can't get one? Do I have to send them the updated information beforehand or can I bring it with me? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated, we are very tired and are still at square one over here.

You have to send the current information.

The beneficiary not having a job isnt a big deal. The petitioner not having one is a bigger issue. Either one changing jobs (as long as petitioners income stays above the 125% mark) is fine.

Did you not make a copy of your original 129f package? Both myself and my fiance have a copy and I could have have sent out a new package in a day if I had needed to. The thought that you could have been approved by now is sad :(

Do you mean I'd have to contact them to change the info once I get a new job? Or just that we need to update the papers before we send it (which we will be doing)?

And unfortunately no, I told him to make 2 copies but he never ended up making any (and unfortunately I couldn't do anything from across the continent) so I had to go get a new passport style photo and prepare a letter of intent and he needed a new copy of his birth certificate and had to get his job history figured out again. We waited a bit to make sure the petition really didn't get to its destination and then he came to visit for Christmas so I sent him off with everything and it's just been setback after setback... :(

Whenever you send the papers, send the current info (whatever it is). You will provide whatever (again) any current info at the interview. If your address changes for either of you, you do need to update that and I think the NOA1 on it has a website or phone number to do so.

Also, dont send originals. send photo copies of original documents (birth certificates, divorce decrees, etc). You will take the originals to the interview.

And make a copy of your ENTIRE package for yourself and keep the originals in a safe place so you have them later, when you will need them.

Ah ok that's what I was hoping would be sufficient, thank you.

I have copies of all my stuff but unfortunately, the rest of it is a hard copy over with my fiance so I have to wait for him to send it to me. However, now he understands why I told him to make copies so hopefully we can avoid this issue again.

I am OCD over paperwork. I am the keeper of the papers. My fiance prefers it that was as well, since HE cant be held accountable if something with them gets missing LOLOL

Also, when you do send it, make sure you use a tracking method. I sent ours via FEDEX but USPS also has tracking. I just dont trust them. Worth the $ to me to use fedex ;)
