Hi all,

I may need to go to Tokyo and apply for a police certificate in person. On the Japan Metro Police website it states I need:

1. Your valid passport (no photocopy acceptable)

2. An official copy (issued within the last 6 months) of your A.R.C.'s Certificate of Closed Registration, or Heisa Torokugenpyo Kisaijiko Shomeisho that shows the fact that you used to be a resident of Tokyo

3. Any document (ex. your local driver's license) that verifies your present address

4. Any document that is good grounds for the necessity of this certificate

Has anyone ever received the document mention in the second point??

I never received a Certificate of Closed Registration. Upon leaving Tokyo via Narita I just handed over my registration card (otherwise know as a Gaijin Card) and that was it. Left the country and returned the follwoing year on a tourist visa.

So, so stressed now as my interview is in less than 3 weeks. Which means if I do need this certificate I have to fly to Tokyo in the next week.

11-05-06 Sent I-130 to California

06-01-07 INTERVIEW

06-04-07 Received VISA in the mail. Silly Consulate issued me CR-1 instead of IR-1, no time to change it in Australia, will try to change it once in California.

06-10-07 POE SFO

06-21-07 Receive SSN#

07-12-07 Receive Green Card in the mail STILL HAD CR1 INSTEAD OF IR1

12-10-07 Finally sent I-90 asking for a new green card with correct info.

06-17-08 INFOPASS - Was told USCIS sent new green card to old address back in Jan. Will resend it but may not be able to correct error as it was made by Consulate not USCIS.

What to do now??
