Hi everyone

me and my husband (well, my husband anyways) hired a lawyer to help us with filing our CR-1 visa. Our lawyer filed our case May 21 and we were told that May 30th the government has our papers we filed.

would that be our NOA-1 then if the lawyer said the government has our I-130 now? And we are just waiting for the NOA-2 next?

Im a little confused, my husband and the lawyer are doing all the filing stuff and I keep asking questions to my husband to ask the lawyer and I keep getting answers that keep confusing me and dont make sense to me because im not in the USA directly with the lawyer asking things in person I want to ask. And everytime I call the lawyer on my own I never get an answer. So Ive been letting my husband do everything like he said he wanted to. So thats why im asking here

Yes  you have the NOA  1  The NOA 2 will be 5 to 7 months in coming. The application  is then sent to the NVC, which is when a lot more documents are submitted. From the NVC, the case is sent to your consulate, your interview the is set, you have your medical, collect your documents to take to the interview and attend the interview.

You can get a lot of good information for yourself by reading the vj guides for IR CR 1, and also by looking on the state.gov website.... search for NVC process.

5-7 months?  More like 9 to 12

YMMV

It's a black hole.  You'll know how long, when they tell you the petition is approved.
