I had my Oath ceremony today but almost missed it, I left home giving myself 2 hours and 15 minutes to make a 1 hour drive and yet someone some how manage to hit a truck carrying a house on the I-65 so I got stuck in traffic for 80 minutes, by the time I got to Nashville I was already 5 minutes late and and to park and run to the courthouse. Once there though everything seemed to go smoothly. Though a word of warning for any non-native English speakers one person did get turned away because they didn't understand the questions they asked when calling you up to sign your certificate. They ask if anything has changed since your interview and if you're still prepared to take the oath but the person just didn't seem to understand what they were saying so they took her aside and asked her more question, then got her family member to try to help her and unfortunately she still didn't understand the questions so was turned away.

Hello Guys,

I post about my interview 2 weeks ago. Here is a recap of my interview I posted.

Had my Naturalization interview Yesterday. Passed the written, oral and civics test. I had been arrested before and I submitted all my legal paperwork and certified judgement of conviction paperwork as well, at the end of the interview she asked if I was placed on probation and I said yes which I completed in 2016. she asked if I have the paperwork to show her that I complete the probation and I told i told her I didn't have the paperwork with me but I can sure get certified one from my probation officer and was given a paper at the end that N-14 would be sent out to me that I should follow the instructions and submit all the requested documents..

Well, That's how my interview went. So, I saw Request for evidence on my account under my documents even though I didn't received any notification about the RFE being sent out but thank God I check my account frequently. RFE was sent June 25 which is last week Tuesday but to my surprise either me or my lawyerstill never get the letter in the mail and I'm unable to view the letter online under my document it's showing Error 500 or something. I don't know why the letter is taking long to get here, do you guys know how long RFE letter usually take to be deliver by post office?

Congratulations to all who have successfully passed the naturalization.

A question, I have pending I-751 and N-400 and submitted in July 2018( N-400) in Baltimore, MD.

After the N-400 submission till interview date, I have additional evidence. I have a 4 big folders.

My 1st question is : Is they allow big bag or small luggage to carry in the interview area?

After marriage my wife change her last name and add my last name in her name.

She filed USCIS for name change and it is still pending with USCIS. Although we have court order for her name change also.

My 2nd question is : My wife naturalization certificate is with USCIS and We have photocopy of  my wife naturalization certificate. I have a receipt that her name changing is in progress in USCIS.

Can i have to prepare r bring additional documents or anything for this ?

Please suggest ?

Finally got my interview scheduled. I applied at the San Fernando Valley field office, and my journey so far is like below 😊

  • 07/10/2018: Application for Naturalization
  • 07/13/2018: Scheduled Biometrics Appointment
  • 08/03/2018: USCIS Reviewed My Biometrics
  • 08/09/2019: Naturalization Interview Scheduled

I see the naturalization ceremony schedule below, but it seems like the dates are not set in stone. Does anyone have insight to the August (or July for reference) ceremony schedule?

Thanks!

I brought a well-stuffed 3"-thick binder to my N-400 interview in Baltimore last month, carried in a tote bag.  No-one had a problem with that.  However...the IO looked at precisely one thing (our 2018 tax documents) from that file.  We brought roughly twice as much to my AOS interview four years ago, and the IO looked at almost none of that either.  I totally understand the urge to bring every possible scrap of evidence you've painstakingly gathered over the past few years, but unless you have some major red flags I can promise you that you don't need to bring everything you have in those 4 big folders, and the poor overworked IO definitely doesn't need to see most of it, even for a combo interview.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

Any ideas what they look for in the tax document?

In my case. we made a minor error on our 2018 return and got a notice from the IRS asking for more information.  We replied with a letter explaining that it was a mistake, calculated the extra tax we owed (only $100-ish), paid it online and enclosed a copy of the receipt with our letter.  Because of all that, there was no 2018 tax transcript available by the date of my interview, because the IRS hadn't had time to close the file.  So, when the IO asked me whether we owed any outstanding taxes, I said "well, I don't think so, but here's what happened..." and pulled out a copy of what we had sent to the IRS.

tl;dr?  They want to know that you file and pay your taxes responsibly, which indicates "good moral character".  Also, (if you're applying under the 3-year rule) they want to see that you and your spouse file as married.

Hi All, have a question here. Got my N-400 interview next month, however, the time is at 1:00 PM. Could I come to the field office in the early morning? Or I have to stick to the arranged time? Thanks.

You have to stick to the scheduled time.  Your appointment notice might even specify how far in advance of the scheduled appointment you may arrive, because waiting room space is limited.

It seems that I can not get a break from USCIS. So I had my interview on July 12th. They never told me that it will be a combo interview with my I-751 and I had no clue! Thank god my husband was with me and we went to the combo interview together. After that I had my N-400 interview. So after all was done the officer told me that she has to approve the I-751 first so she can approve my citizenship and it seemed that there was a problem in her system which she couldn't put approval for either one in the system!!! She told me that I'm approved and even gave me the passport documents to bring with me in my oath ceremony, but since that day neither of my cases have been updated in the case tracker and I have no idea when my oath ceremony will be :((( . Did anyone have any similar experience? :(
