It used to be (and might still be) that employers' focus was (is) on candidates who have university degrees precisely pertaining to the field of hire.  I observed that Human Resources departments tended to be the roadblocks.  Not to insult anyone here who might be in that arena, but I've rarely been favorably impressed with most people in HR departments.  There's "tunnel vision" (inability or unwillingness to recognize that people without the precise sheepskin or certification can work out just as well as those with those), and the endemic "no one ever got fired for saying 'no' to an applicant" attitude.  Hiring Managers should have a heart-to-heart talk with the HR staff about more flexibility.

 

For professional-track positions, I would (if I were in HR) consider graduates & postgraduates with Music or other Liberal Arts degrees who are intelligent, motivated, and trainable but can't get hired in their own fields.  I knew a lot of people with a B.A. or M.A. in Music who ended up helping lawyers with research and other activities that required smarts, for example.

 

Contact the local chapter of Mensa to discuss avenues of promotion, such as placing recruiting-ads in the monthly newsletter or giving a presentation about your field, as a monthly speaker.  See who responds and who asks compelling questions.

 

Utilize networking groups like there's no tomorrow.  A lot of general and loosely specialized groups have attendees who are looking for work themselves or who know someone who is.

 

Consider hiring new CR-1 entrants, or K-1 entrants who have EAD.  Gosh, look in the "Finding Work" forum here to see the number of folks highly trained in their home countries who have trouble landing gainful, relevant employment through typical means.  There'd be ZERO trouble with motivation or initiative with such hires.

Trump and any other MDR politico are the only politicians that have ever lied to get elected.  I thought you knew that already?
