Saturday Interviews

Hi everybody,

My husband has been scheduled for a Saturday morning interview for his N400. I have heard that they sometimes schedule Saturday interviews because they're trying to get caught up with a backlog. That makes sense to me, however I've also now heard that someone else was scheduled for a Saturday interview, showed up, the office was closed, and they were later told it must have been a clerk error. Isn't that right @mcdull?  I tried calling my local field office, but their phone system wasn't working and I couldn't reach a person. I'm now waiting for a call back from a USCIS Tier 2 officer, so am hoping I can get clarity or confirmation, but I'm just wondering if anyone here also got Saturday interviews that turned out to be correct?

hello there, yes, I had a sat interview, showed up and USCIS of course was closed.

Took them 5 months to reschedule me...but i read some USCIS offices do interviews on Sat, so perhaps ring them up again and find out.

That story scared me @mcdull but also prompted me to follow up on this, so thanks for letting us all know. I'm sorry you had to go through that. When I hear back from USCIS I'll post here. I wish the field office phone number was working properly, but hopefully the Tier 2 officer can confirm definitively that all is ok with our Sat appointment.

@Shomer oh really? That's very good to know as well. I'll look up the LA times article. We're at the San Fernando Valley office and there's been quite a long wait so it wouldn't surprise me that they're scheduling appts on weekends. Just makes me nervous of course because we're eager to get this wrapped up and I'd hate to wait the next few weeks only to show up to a closed office.

When is your interview scheduled for, @FtWorth1982? Ours is June 23. I spoke to a Tier 2 officer who said that they can't contact the field office directly, but that it's true that Saturday appointments are being scheduled for N400s, so it seems likely it's not a system glitch at least. My plan is actually to go to the field office tomorrow, show them the letter just to firmly confirm that absolutely yes they are open that day.
