I would definitely recommend getting any shots at your doctors office before as I don't think you can use your insurance for the civil surgeon to sign off your I-693 :)

Hey there!

So, my husband got his TDAP vaccination over the weekend (we concluded that was the only one he was missing). I see you are in Winston Salem - I was curious what civil surgeon you guys used?

We have one here in SC where we live that's listed on the Civil Surgeon locater on the USCIS website; however, whenever I spoke to (their receptionist, it sounded like), she didn't sound too confident in any of the terms I was using or what I was talking about. She didn't seem too sure that they could do what we needed, either. I'm almost willing to drive us somewhere where we know they will do what we need, and not charge 100s of dollars.

I used Dr Walter Ezeigbo in Winston-Salem. If your husband only needs sign off on the vaccinations like I did then in theory it should only be $50 with them.

Hey there! Sorry to keep bugging you on this topic (this part has been like a bad dream that keeps coming back, for some reason). Just wondering if you could share some more insight on your experience....

We ended up going to Dr. Ezeigbo's office in Winston-Salem on Tuesday, because no one else any closer panned out. It seemed pretty hopeful when we were there, Paul gave the lady up front all his papers and she seemed to have a clue about what we needed. Said it would be $50 and they would call us once it's completed. Well, they just called Paul (3 days later :() to say they can't sign off on anything as it is. Apparently, there's no dates for the vaccinations his doctor in Sweden signed off on with the DS3025, and as it is isn't good enough. Paul says those vaccines are given randomly during childhood, in Sweden, and he doesn't have the dates. He said he tried explaining the 3025 to the lady (I mean, it was good enough for him to enter the country on, dates or no dates) but she was very adamant. He said all she could suggest was he do an exam and have blood drawn there (I'm assuming a few hundred $$$ for that) so they can confirm the vaccines aren't needed...?

Anyway. Wondering if you had any issue like that with your experience. Your 3025 may have had dates, so it may not have been an issue (not sure if this is a Sweden thing or not). But figured I'd ask, because we are growing more and more hopeless with our options so far.

Thank you!

Hey no problem! I took the DS3025 with me and there were some dates on that. I also had a copy of my medical records that had a screenshot from England with my vaccinations on that. I would try to contact the doctors in Sweden to see if you could get something similar? Alternatively ask your local doctor if they can give any of these shots which may be covered by your health insurance and then take the proof from there back to Dr Ezeigbo!

Sorry I can’t be more helpful!

@Paul & Mallory @Salty2305  Hello there,  I came across your conversation and found it really helpful,  me and my wife have exactly the same issue, her DS-3025 is incomplete and was told to finish it here in the US.   But my question is, did they actually ask you for that additional vaccinations on the AOS interview?  As I understood from your conversation you had never received RFE from USCIS about incomplete medical/vaccinations before the interview. Was it really necessary to see a civil surgeon after all and had all missing vaccinations done? I would greatly appreciate your response on this matter,  as we just submitted I-485 (without form I-693) and we are confused if we need to do anything else with this matter.

Thank You

Hey so glad we could help!

Our advice would be to go to the interview prepared to answer every single question again on every form you’ve submitted. We went with more proof of our relationship, proof of marriage, photos, copies of all submitted forms etc. as well as the completed I-693.

I went to our local doctors office, had all vaccinations I was missing done (all of which were covered by our insurance). Then I took proof of this along with the original medical records I had showing my vaccinations from the k1 visa process to a civil surgeon. He charged me $50 to complete the I-693 form and didn’t even have to see me for an appointment. I was asked specifically for this form at my interview.

Good luck! :)

So I-693 is indeed required...  I'm wondering why they do not send RFE if it is a requirement and they see it's missing from the file.
Anyways, thank you so much for your response, that's exactly what I wanted to know :)

Best!

It's not required to send with the packet (and if you're doing AOS from a category of visa where you had a medical exam overseas like a K1, it's often not required at all). If it is required for you, it's best to not get a medical exam in the US until after your interview is scheduled because the validity period is limited.

Hi there! I see some other folks have responded, but I will still share our experience/feedback.

So, in our experience, the officer did not ask for the vaccination updates when we went for the AOS interview. We had to bring it up. However, it appeared that she SHOULD have asked for it, because she seemed confused for a moment and made a comment that they hadn't flagged something properly, or whatever. So I got the feeling that it was required, and if we hadn't brought it up, it could have come back up down the road somewhere. So definitely go  to the interview prepared to answer for that.

We didn't receive any incomplete/RFE notices prior to the interview because you are not required to submit that documentation (i.e. I-693) with your AOS application. You can go ahead and file the application, then handle that business, and bring those updates to the interview.

In my opinion - it is necessary. They're going to want the required vaccinations accounted for once it's all said and done. You just don't have to scurry around to get that taken care of before you even apply for AOS, just before your interview date. You submitted the I-485 without the I-693 - that's fine. Just bring those papers to your interview and you will be good. :)

Håll ut, y'all.

Hi guys! I still have a question! So I am finally ready to submit my wife's AOS package but I am hung up on this situation. Do I need to submit any paperwork on her medical exam at all? Because it appears that my wife lost her DS-3025. If not, then I would just wait until we get an appointment scheduled for her. Which then, I would get an I-693 from a local civil surgeon, but I just wanna make sure I have everything I need for her initial AOS submission.

Yes that's fine. You don't need to send the medical now.
