   Thanks for posting. If I ever start to wonder why we don't have TV any more, it helps to remember why we got rid of it in the first place.

Personally find the whole beauty pageant thing stupid and based upon a very outdated model that is not representative of American women and what it means. It has also done very little for funding scholarships for women. Stop ogling some airhead lady on the tv and go ogle your wives!

It’s not so outdated as you say.  Beauty gets people (but especially women) things in life that more common-looking folks have to struggle for.  And since there are beauty pageants the world over, to include Miss Universe, I don’t really see this “outdated” contest going away in our lifetime.

Hey now, you are NOT MDL-enough to misconstrue my words.  I said, and I quote: “But what IF our wives are ugly?”  Never said mine was, nor anyone else’s here.  But it stands to reason that for there to be beauty, there must be ugly to compare it to.  (And for the record, I try to find something to ogle every chance I get.  I also get smacked for it.)
