My husband just checked his status notification, and we just saw the great news that his green card is being produced!!! :D:jest:

What do we do once receiving it? We have our own list of things (passport, driver's licenese, etc), but anything else? What are the things that we need to confirm? How long will this card be valid? How long will it take to receive the actual green card which is valid for 5 or more years?

Passport? 10-year greencard does not make one a US Citizen. Passport will have to wait until NatCert is in hand.

Congratulations! In another post you mentioned that your AOS process took more than 2 years, so I assume you have been married for more than 2 years. This means he will receive a 10 year Greencard instead of the usual 2 year Greencard.

I am not sure what you mean by "passport" in your to do list. He is not a citizen yet, so he can't apply for a US passport.

Not US passport. His Indian passport recently expired. According to Consulate General of India, passport renewal requires approval from USCIS, in my husband's case. Such BS! So, renewing his India passport is on our list of things to do. :) Sorry, I should have clarified.

India is not a colony of the US, why does USCIS have to approve India's renewal of one of their national's passport!!? That is complete nonsense, and a TOTAL lie from them, if they said that! You need to call their bluff.

USCIS does NOT work with ANY foreign countries, vetting applicants for passport renewals. I mean, come on, the Consular General of India just made my evening -- I laughed uncontrollably...

... and I should laugh more, but I feel sorry for you if you are gullible enough to accept such BULL MANURE.
