My fiance got RFE today. It was because of his passport photos and a proof of citizenship 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂. We submitted his passport card but I’m pretty sure we got RFE because we sent only one side of card not both of them. It’s simple problem and he is sending evidence tomorrow morning ASAP. Thanks God it’s almost there! 🥰🙏🏻

So frustrating that there is no clear way to be updated.  Our dates are June 20/25 and it feels like we have been left behind.

There is a way to be updated. You submitted your application and with that comes a prescribed adjudication timeline found on the USCIS webpage. Following that date window you will know how they are doing on your case. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/  Once they have approved your case they will send you the NOA2 which is another way of being updated. Next NVC will assign a case number and again they will notify you with an email and a follow up letter with the details. Then you can go to ceac.state.gov and search for an additional updates on your case. Then when ceac update your status to READY then the embassy will contact you with what is next including the update on how to secure a interview date.

All along they update you. It's been this way for years. Don't get high and mighty because you don't like what I just told you because what I just laid out for you are the facts.

Wow.  I’m not sure where I got “high and mighty” on you?  I understand the official updates.  And all the disclaimers “your mileage may vary.” Perhaps I shouldn’t have downloaded the “tracker” apps. Or hung on the VJ estimates.  I am disheartened.  Others are also.  It goes with the process, I guess.  I’ll keep my thoughts to myself.

Any time I point out to those like yourself that there is a way to be updated I get "hate" mail. So I express it prior.  Your thoughts are always welcome and I will exercise mine also. Just think we might learn together.

We are the same exact dates as well and still sitting on "received"

On a side note, does anyone know if the govt shutdown is affecting processing times?

Not so far. Seems like they are speeding things up as approvals are coming faster.
