Hi everyone. I'm definitely a newbie. Noa1 date is June 15 and I've been keeping tabs on Feb 2018 filers all the way to June. Not sure if these questions belong elsewhere, or if these have been answered already. Maybe someone can redirect me. I am a beneficiary from Taiwan currently working in Shanghai, China, which is also the location I put on the i129f. I'm starting to prep for Noa2 materials and I am wondering if anyone could give me details on how to procure my Taiwanese birth certificate (need more discussion on that) if I only have my residency materials? And whether the embassy I must be interviewed at is the one in Guangzhou..because it seems like the one in Shanghai doesn't do immigration visas (need confirmation from someone who has gone thru this) Would I get a choice once Noa2 comes down, to either fly back to Taiwan or be interviewed in Shanghai? I have read extensively most of the travel.gov websites and couldn't glean much from what will happen.

I am not sure if in our thread we have some ppl form China or Taiwan that faced same issues like you did. But here are two subforms that might be helpful:

https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/

https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/90-asia-east-and-pacific/

Also, have you checked with the Embassy? You can always call and ask them about jurisdiction :)  Same with the birth certificate - call Taiwanese government office that deals with birth certificates...

good luck!

You have a few choices where you can interview. As it stands now your NOA2 will be excepted for U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou for your interview. If you want to go back home and interview then you will have to contact USCIS with a change of address or contact U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou and the Consulate in Taiwan to transfer your file. That alone can add 30-60 days of waiting.

Here is information on the process for China: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp#KVisaPetitions

Also, if you go to the sub-forum for China, there are many there that can help you with your specific questions about the "China" immigration process.

Hello @Greenbaum and anyone else that is really good at this whole K1 thing...

Where is the best place to read on the next steps to take once we receive our approvals? I am a worry wart so I HAVE to take things one step at a time or I will really really stress myself out. You should have seen me trying to get the packet ready to ship (OH MY LORD HAHA)! So now that I know the next step is coming at any give day, can you or someone direct me to the best way my fiance from Brazil can prepare for what is to come? I think it goes to something called NVC and etc... I am trying to breath and remember that in about 3 months all of this will be water under the bridge and the best is yet to come. I hope everyone gets the answers they need in the next few weeks!

Hi! You can click on the menu bar on the top right and select "guide". You'll find the K1 flowchart there.

I'm sure others will be able to add other great information on where to find the information too.

My fiance called the uscis and talked with tier2. So the agent was saying that your background is checked and it's cleared. there is no RFE yet in your case. And your approval date is 29 december. May be you will get your approval before 7 months. But if you dont get then you can call here on january 31.

Oh wow that’s good that they answered the questions. I wouldn’t even know how to start the conversation with them just yet as I thought they may not speak to us yet with it still being within the time frame.

That sounds like NOA1 plus the upper limit of 5 to 7 months, as estimated by USCIS on their website now, doesn't it? They are answering because they are in a governmental job and they will proceed as they will.

You should become familiar with your country's sub-forum here on VJ to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil.  Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Go to the blue ribbon on the top of the page. Select "forums" and then scroll down about 3/4 of the page and look in the list.
