Hello Everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone in California was able to get DL while waiting for adjustment of status? my fiance wasn't able to get DL because her visa had less than 60 days to expire. But she was able to get  SSN and we just received it. So is she going to be able to get a DL with the SSN?

Thank you.

Yasser

Ok - check your state requirements. Go to the state dmv website.

It should be all there.

Usually you need either valid I94 or EAD or Green Card. Depends on the state.

SSN doesn't even matter.

There you go, I did this hard searching for you:

  • Employment Authorization Card.
  • Valid I-94.
  • Temporary Resident Identification Card.

Need one of those.

I think she can apply for AB 60 license which is for an applicant who is undocumented can receive a driver’s license. Here’s URL and go to the checklist that shows what you need.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/ab60

This license is for driving purpose only in Califoria, not for out of states. And it cannot be a proof of ID or anything.

I was supposed to apply it, but I got my EAD last week after all.
