Heard about that.  Interesting strategy, but from what everyone is saying we will all be purchasing eco-friendly fully autonomous vehicles in the future that look like pods.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous. It's just a cake. Why lose out on money just to refuse two people the opportunity to have cake? And I also don't understand this whole suing for a cake thing. If someone doesn't want to make you a cake, their cake probably suck anyway and you can find something better elsewhere.

They're still going to sell the other ones like the Focus in Europe because they sell much better over there. They're just not going to sell them here because most people want an SUV.

Yup. I like fords. Have owned several. Still if gas prices explode again it could bite them

To some, their religious beliefs are just that important.  Thankfully (and shockingly, given the current state of affairs in the US), those religious beliefs are being upheld as just as important as the sexual rights of anyone.

And I am with you on the whole “go buy your cake from someone who WANTS to make you a cake” concept.  I think the consequence of potentially losing business from refusing to serve gays would be the appropriate thing for the baker in this case.  But, in our nation, people are sue-happy, and there are plenty of money-hungry lawyers out there willing to take the case just to make a buck, and maybe 15 minutes of fame.  Sad.

I honestly feel that oil prices will stay in the $60-70 dollar range for a long while much to the disagreement from OPEC.

I totally agree with this in all aspects.

There are people that their whole job is to go around to look for infractions that they feel slighted against by a company. They will then sue that company and more than likely get a pay off so that it does not go to court.

I'm fine with that as long as "go buy your cake from someone who wants to make you a cake" doesn't put those people at a significant inconvenience compared to other people. For example, if they lived in a small town with one baker, and the next nearest baker for a cake is 100 miles away. I don't think it's fair to say "Well go drive 100 miles to find someone who wants to make your cake".

In Medicine you have the right to "fire" a patient if you disagree with them (For example a Pediatrician can choose not to care for a child if the parents refuse vaccinations). However, you need to be able to provide them with reasonable alternatives. Obviously healthcare is more important than baking, but I think the concept should still apply. If there is another baker within easy access that will serve them, then that's fine.

As soon as you start allowing people to discriminate, and those discriminated against then have fewer or inferior options, then you start creating "Second class citizens", which I don't think is okay.

I know but it's sad. We have so many lawyers with too much time on their hands.

But it must be way more expensive suing and losing than it would have been for them to just find someone who, like you said, WANTS to make their cake. But oh well. It is what it is.

I am pretty sure special interests paid for both sides

The US auto industry always seems to be playing catch up when fuel prices shift, but Ford does have a V6 truck they can hype if gas prices go up.

You are forgetting these guys were activists that want to force their view on others.  From my understanding, they were customers in this shop fairly regularly, so they may have known the bakers religious beliefs, but instead of going somewhere else to get their artfully decorated cake, they asked this guy who they probably knew was going to say no.  Seems like fascist activism to me.
