Hello. This has probably being asked tons of times, but I can’t find a clear answer.

 

My extension letter expires on 08/07/18, a year later after the expiration of my greencard which is 08/07/17. When should I request the appointment to get the stamp? Can I get request this month or a month before the expiration of my extension letter?

If you need the stamp to travel, and you will be gone during the expiration of your green card, then you may make an appointment and bring your ticket in as proof.   While there is no fast rule as to when you get the stamp, many offices will not give a stamp until you are about one month away from your expiration date.  There are always exceptions.

If you don't plan on travelling abroad or getting a new job, you don't need a stamp.

 

But if you feel better having one you can try, like Sukie said, around 30 days before the expiration of your extension letter.
