I don't miss most of my stuff at all. But there are a few 'treasures' that I feel a pang when I think about - my mother is keeping them safe and I may be able to get them back one day, but I wish I had them with me.

- my patchwork 'art' teddybear and quilt (my mother wanted to keep them to remind her of me, so I gave them to her but I miss them dearly)

- the cat drawing my parents bought me for my eighteenth birthday - it was too large to fit into a standard-sized mailing box so it's still on the wall in my parents house...

- a watercolour painting done by a very old friend who's passed away - ditto

- a set of mother-of-pearl handled fish-knives that I inherited from my grandmother - her mother gave it to HER for a wedding present and it has my great grandmother's name on the engraved plate.

Karen - Melbourne, Australia/John - Florida, USA

- Proposal (20 August 2000) to marriage (19 December 2004) - 4 years, 3 months, 25 days (1,578 days)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

My cats, although they are not posessions as such.

An antique pine book case and chest of drawers that were custom made to a design I did.

Also all my degree related papers/essays etc. When I finished it in 2004 I thought I'd never want to look at them again EVER, but I miss them now and the mental stimulation of academic texts.

My 5 pet chinchillas :((((

All my arts and crafts materials.

My son left his books that he misses a lot. Books in Polish are not available where we live and he is not very comfortable with English yet.

All my favourite dvd's because they would not work here.

And a car that I don't miss a bit :P

I'm not in the States yet but I already know that I won't bring my stereo sytem and I know that I'll miss it dearly.

I'm still not sure if I should bring some things that I'm really emotionally attached too - things like the first toy that my mom gave me when I was a baby. I don't know if that will make me REALLY sad and miss my family when I look at it or if it'll help me to have a part of my "old home" with me.... . :(

I was able to ship pretty much everthing I owned, the only "stuff" I left behind were things like pots and pans and dishes and stuff that my Mum needed because somehow my Dad got all that stuff in their divorce settlement

The only thing I really pine for is my family. Mostly my niece and nephew. The last time I saw my niece she could barely hold her eyes open on her own. Now she's talking. She even says my name, but she doesn't know who I am other than a picture on the wall :(

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

BOOKS! I pine terribly for my books. I've always been a huge reader, and a hoarder of paper products. I don't like reading library books because I don't like giving them back afterwards!
