Just out of curiosity and not trying to be rude, why do some of you in such a hurry to  apply for N400 before the ROC is completed? Is it so that you can vote next year?

Let me just say that my ROC has been approved so this question is not aimed at me :D

For me, I can tell you that I get "looks" when people ask me how long I've been in America and I tell them that I've not been here that long and I'm a resident. It feels like they judge me for being a RESIDENT. In any event, my application for Naturalization would have my kids being citizens of the US as well so it is a win-win for me.

Every person has their own reason for wanting to get Naturalized.....maybe having the ability to vote in Presidential elections would be a huge plus for some :)

In my case, I work a Fortune 500 company and we have collaborative work in many parts of the world. My current project  is with a company in Israel and I'm expected to go to Tel Aviv once every few weeks. Problem is that for my Indian passport, Israel requires that i apply for a tourist visa. And they only provide a single entry, so in the past year, I've applied for the visa 6 times and its a hassle. It takes about 2 weeks to approve, so I really have to plan my visits. My USC colleagues can wake up today and fly out this afternoon if needed. I feel that I'm not able to grow professionally because of this restriction. Most of my teams ends up flying and I'd have to Skype in. That's the main reason I'd like to get a US passport ASAP.

Gotcha. I'm a flight attendant and we fly to TLV too, I guess with crew they are less stringent.

Our ROC is also now approved, and we've filed N400, though we were willing to do a combo filing if the ROC hadn't been approved this summer. We knew citizenship was our ultimate goal and we wanted to be done with all of the filings involved in this journey and get on with our lives. We've been together over 20yrs, but were only able to get married and have it recognized federally as of 2015, with the legalization of same-sex marriages. We could have married earlier, when we lived in NY and it became legal there, but that would not have offered my wife any rights, benefits or protections of that status if we moved to other states where it wasn't legalized or recognized. We were also concerned with issues regarding her travelling to and from Bermuda and stating she was coming to stay with her "wife".  She'd had to return to work there for a few years, when her student visa ran out - we did a lot of back and forth visits during that time. At this point, we just want it all done (successfully).

That was probably too much info, but I was on a rant/roll. 😏

About 12 months after we did the biometrics, our status finally updated and showing "We received your fingerprint fee for your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence. Your case is now properly filed."  Until today, its status was showing "At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case"

We also finally received the Approval notification via SMS along with the biometrics update on the web.  Just in case if your status has not been updated since your application submission don't lose your hope.  Our case had NO RFE, NO transfer, NO update, since June 2018 until this morning
