Yeah, I'm not comfortable with giving this out, sorry. And we advise people to mask this out as well as other personal info when they post screenshots of their letters and whatnot for security reasons so please don't ask people for this info.

What were your WAC18xxx numbers?

Hi pearla,

Applicants case numbers are usually private and confidential and is advised against sharing on boards. If a member posts a screenshot of their case update, you would see that they usually blot out that portion so that the full info is not revealed.

Understandable. I only asked for the 3 digit identifiers for the date. Never asked for a full case number of course.

This is widely shared all over the forum! It helps gauge where the processing is at, especially for periods where data entry at USCIS was delayed resulting in "Dates, Received" not matching "NOA dates".

Which is why I mentioned "advised against" and "usually blot out".

Hello y'all! :)

Considering we have all been in marriage for 3+ years, is anyone planning on applying for citizenship before 2nd GC arrives?
Do you guys have any details how that exactly works in situations like this?

Cheers!

Your citizenship application is processed at your local office.

When you apply for citizenship while you have a pending I-751 your local office will request your I-751 file for combo processing.

You have then essentially lost your place in queue for the I-751 processing and gained a new place at the end of the citizenship process queue at your local office.

Now, depending on how long it takes to process citizenship applications at your local office this might speed up or slow down your timeline.

For example... El Paso, TX office processes  citizenship applications in 4-6 months (going by experiences of other people here on the forum) if someone had 8-10 months left on their estimated I-751 process and applies for citizenship at the office they will speed up things for themselves. However, in offices like Houston & LA you would have reset your timeline to 1 year+

I hope that makes sense.

Most people prefer to have a green card in hand (piece of mind and assurance) before starting a new process.

Thank you for a such detailed reply!

Yes, that makes sense and it seems like better idea to wait for a GC and then apply.

Thanks again!

While I agree that is true that it could speed or slow the process, I feel that if your ultimate goal is Citizenship why not consider filing while waiting at least the wait will be concurrent rather than consecutive, getting you to Citizenship sooner. If you choose to wait it will be that much longer a wait for the next process and considering how much time we have already waited on this and our previous processes, why not take the advantage of a concurrent wait. My husband is planning on filing his Citizenship this week or next. He was waiting to have the necessary funds. We will try for a fee waiver again but wanted to have the funds available, in hold, just in case. We are short on income right now with me being on disability so a fee waiver would be helpful and the money could then go for getting rid of more debt. Hoping to be co-Citizens with zero debt. Debt is not a good thing in today's economics.

It might save you a little time if you apply as soon as your eligible.

If you travel outside the US regularly and depending on your country of origin it might be better to wait.

The US boarder agents are well aware of the extension letter and that’s no issue at all. However, some airlines are not aware of it (as per some of the members’ experiences here) and it could be a hassle depending on your travel destinations.

Also, not having a green card could mean that your ineligible for some e-visas... etc

You just have to see your personal situation and decide which path works for you.

Best of luck!

Exactly!

In my case it makes sense to wait a bit and have something concrete.

Extension paper is fine but having an actual 10yr green card just looks like a better choice.

Too many trips and events planned ahead.

It's actually weird because in earlier months, Jan, Feb, Mar, April, and May, it's CSC that is moving faster than Vermont.
