Hi Everyone,

My name is Mike, I am a US citizen and my fiance is from Thailand.  I would like to file my I-129F soon, but I have a question regarding my income.

I'm working in the US.  I just started a new job on May 16th, 2018 where I am making $47,000 USD per year.  This is enough to cover myself and my fiance on form I-134...

However, my work history is pretty spotty because I've left 2 jobs in order to travel.

 - January 2013 - July 2014 I worked one job and made $40,000/year.   In July 2014 I quit and traveled until November 2015 (16 months)

 - May 2016 I started another job and made $26,000 by December 2016.

 - January 2017 I quit that job, but got one large paycheck in January for working a lot of extra hours in 2016, it was $11,000.

So my tax returns for 2015 and 2017 won't show much income, and my income in 2018 just started because I was overseas earlier this year.

I understand that the I-134 isn't submitted until my fiance interviews, but that could potentially be in a few months.

Do you think this shows enough stability to a CO, or would you advise that I use a cosponsor?

Also, if I file the I-134 under my name and my fiance gets rejected, can we just resubmit a new I-134 with a cosponsor, or do we have to restart the whole k1 process by submitting a new I-129F again?

Sorry for the long story and thank you for any input you may have.

Thanks,

- Mike

Given how long it takes for K-1 visa, you’ll have your 2018 taxes filed by the time your fiancée gets to the interview and then fine with the affidavit of support.

I agree with the other poster. You pull off an interview within 2 months of filing, I'll be your cosponsor. LOL, I'm in the same boat as you and Filed back in December 2017, still don't even have NOA2. But I'll be more than willing to help you out with what I find out or have already done. I've gotten police certificate, Vaccinations done, and as much filled out as I can and I'm still considered a beginner in this long process.

Right now k1 from filing to interview takes about 8-12 months. So we are in June... I’m pretty sure you’ll be filing 2018 taxes by then. Even if a miracle occurs and things go down to 6 months again, you can just chose the interview date in January and file before your fiancé goes to interview.

as they just started doing December cases, I say you’ll be ok...

The Bangkok Embassy works a little bit differently in their process for scheduling the interview, as they choose the interview date for the Applicant after they receive the Packet 3 with proof of Application Fee payment.   The applicant does not choose the date, although I believe it can be rescheduled if necessary by contacting the Embassy.   Just a minor detail, but I imagine the same effect would be achieved by delaying submission of Packet 3 to the Bangkok Embassy.   Although, I am not sure how long you can delay the Packet 3 without some other step of the process "expiring", because the faster the better for most of us.   As the Thai say,  Layo Layo.  (quickly quickly)

Thanks for this info!

overall I don’t think they’ll get an interview before January, so that should give enough for a nice whole year’s tax return :)

Don't tease me like that, December cases, I thought they were at November 16th or something. I'm feeling good!!! Even if it's not true, thanks for the build up, I could use it. I know everyone complains now, but it is definitely a test of your relationship, and if this is the hardest thing the comes along, I'm good with it.

And another good thing, If you file your taxes electronically, you can print the transcripts online about a week after the return is accepted. Easier than waiting for them to mail them to you, but when I did that one year it only took about 10 days to get them in the mail.

Umm... It is true, they just started December on Friday as we’ve seen approvals. This does not mean all november is finished or even October as they do not go in an exact order.

but they are still mainly focusing on November. They don’t do “one day” specifically.

I'll take it. I'm hoping within the next 40-50 days since I am about 36 days from becoming a member of the 200 day club. And really don't want to have to start a 300 day club thread. LOL
