Hi there,

My wife and I submitted our application to remove conditions (form I-751) May 17 2018 and they received it two days later, May 19 2018 according to the USPS. My green card expires tomorrow and obviously we haven't gotten a notice of action, we know it usually takes a couple/few weeks to receive it, but we're concerned about my status. From our understanding we followed the requirements and submitted the application before the deadline, but like I said we're still concerned mostly due to the lack of evidence of my status, an expired green card doesn't prove much. The question at hand is, will this effect my status for employment purposes, deportation purposes or in any other way, or are we okay because we filed before the deadline?

You will be fine as previous poster stated but it states that you are to apply for removal of conditions 90 days before expiration of the green card (https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-green-card-granted/conditional-permanent-residence). One of the reasons is so that you get your NOA before your card expires.

Your status isn't affected.  Your status cannot be removed except by an immigration judge, even if you filed late.

Obviously you'd have trouble flying out of the country and may have a issue with a valid DL depending on the state, until you get NOA1 but otherwise you are fine.

You are fine.

And follow the May filers thread. CSC has had about a 45 day wait since Early-Mid April.

Just don't fly and if you have a job interview and get a job offer, make sure your SSN has the restrictions removed on it. If you don't plan on going anywhere or get a new job, you are fine.

Hey guys,

Is there an actual USCIS link that states you can still work even after your GC expires? (While you wait for your NOA in the mail)

I told my HR lady that as long as I sent in my application before expiration date (6/30) and have proof of delivery that USCIS received it, I should be good.

She said that I MIGHT not be able to come to the office until I get the NOA. (She said she'd talk to a lawyer about it)
