what is the first to set an appointment is it the CFO or the embassy interview?

Set the Embassy interview. Then complete the medical and CFO in any order you like. If you do CFO early you will have to return with your passport for the insertion of the CFO certificate prior to boarding a plane.

There isn't another country that uses CFO so asking it in this thread wouldn't have gotten you an answer. I suggest you begin asking USEM questions over in the sub-forum. Link is below.

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get down. To smooth that trail for your I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

Did it ever change from that? Ours just switched to “application received”. The interview was yesterday and they said they were approving it.

My status changed from  application received to “issued” after 2 days

I can't help you if you can't reach the Embassy. Have you tried calling? Phone is on their website. I do have some information for your review while you are waiting.

Unfortunately I don't have a true Packet 3 letter so if and when you get a copy can you PM me with it? Thanks.

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Chile&cty=Santiago This line is a little old from 2017 and should be used with caution.

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-cl/iv This is the Embassy's website with all the information for Chile. You'll need to do a little exploring to find your answers.

Also I have this https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/SNT-Santiago.pdf

You should be over in the sub-forum for your area where you can ask some of the others who are applying and also there are some experts that can answer your questions.

There only way available when it’s related to immigrant visas is by email and the only explanation they gave us was they haven’t reach our dates.

But without receiving the package 3 I can’t schedule a interview appointment or medical appointment, cuz’ that’s how they operate! Which is nonsense to me.

They just make this process even more painful!

Yup. They can make the process seem daunting at best. Some Embassy's, for instance the Philippines, you do all the work and show up on your date you scheduled. One couple last month from receiving their case number on a phone call to walking out of the Embassy with visa approval was 22 days. That is unheard of till they did it. Take the information I gave you and get your documents ready so when they say "go" you are gone like the wind. Good luck.

Yeap. We did all that! My embassy requires me to translate everything that is not in English so i’m waiting to translate the police records that i’m going to need by the time.

Well thanks a lot for your words Greenbaum ;)

YW  See you over in the Filipino sub-forum. Good Luck - It's hard to NOT get approved at USEM. So, just get your document together and follow Hanks website and ask questions in the sub-forum and you will fly through this.

Yes this is normal :) may take 2-5 days before changes to issued. (depending on if your medical was there or not)

I just had my interview at the US consulate in Hong Kong yesterday (08/22) and got approved!

The whole process was very pleasant and smooth, the officer asked me a couple of standard questions and it took about 5 mins in total.

- First she asked me when is my birthday, I said " next week (my bday is 08/27) and she smiled and said happy birthday to me =))).

- Then she asked how I've met my fiance, where is he right now, and what is he doing right now.

- I just told the truth that he just moved back and still looking for job right now (so currently unemployed), she nodded and then asked if we have married before and if we have any kids.

- Lastly she asked where i took those pictures as they are beautiful, etc. (the pictures with my fiance at some tourists' places in China)

So IT'S OKAY IF MY FIANCE IS UNEMPLOYED RIGHT NOW, as long as he has sufficient savings or proofs showing that we won't be a burden to the US government. I was quite panic before that they will ask me to provide further sponsor if my fiance doesn't have a job now...but seems they are quite flexible about it.

Below is my timeline:

NOA1: 09 Nov 2017 (old site)

NOA2: 31 May 2018

NOA 3: Mid June 2018

Notice of Interview: 25 July 2018

Interview Date: 22 Aug 2018 (APPROVED)

Thank you for all of your help and best wishes to you all.

@Greenbaum on the mail that I received from USEM, it says that I need to notify them if I'm done submitting my ds-160. Never heard of this before on the forum. Has anyone done this or got this mail (I think it's the packet 3)

Sounds like your embassy's version of packet 3 to me. In my P3 I had to send the confirmation page for completing the DS160, my passport Bio page and a completed and signed P3 checklist stating I had prepared/collected all of the documents I would need to bring to the interview.

Does that sound similar to your "mail" you received?

Thank you
