Hi All,

I received my NVC case # & Inv ID today quick question how can I track to see when my case will get to the embassy like transit or ready? what's the website and do I need to sign in first or can just use my NVC # to track it?

Hi you can check on https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ under immigrant click check my visa application status and enter your case number to see the status.

I tried using the site above and put my case number but it's saying invalid case number or ID maybe there is nothing in the system as of yet ? maybe it will show when they send the case to the embassy there is option of non-immigrant visa status as well I put under both but same results.

Too soon

Thank you for the information, just wondering if these are all the documents I need to send back or only some of it after receiving P3? If you could help me clarifying that would be appreciated, thank you!

That is specifically for the Nertherlands as that's what they were discussing. You will need to find the P3 for your country.

When did they receive your case? Just curious how long it takes to receive case number after case has arrived at NVC

We were approved by USCIS on June 18. I called NVC and the case number they gave me ends with 001, so i guess it wqs the 1st case they received today. I checked the ceac website and it says "at NVC".

Go to CEAC.state.com. As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa".

Technically the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa but it is treated like an immigrant visa because of the AOS. It is kind of a ba$tard. Non-immigrant treated like an immigrant. Other non-immigrant visas do not usually end up with green cards!  The K-1 on its own is a single entry, short time limit visa that expires 90 days after POE. That is why it is a non-immigrant visa treated like an immigrant visa.

I called NVC and they end up cancelling my NVC number and change to London embassy since my fiancé was living in London at that time. So it's crazy now I have to wait until it gets to London and then contact them to send to the correct embassy.

Hello! I am gonna interview in HK as well. Just saw that my case was "Ready" today so below is my case FYI:

NOA1: Nov 9, 2017

NOA2: May 31, 2018

AT NVC: Not sure, but received NVC letter on June 13, 2018

NVC in Transit: June 26, 2018

Arrived/Ready at the Consulate: July 5, 2018 (So it took them around 8 days)

I called the HK consulate a couple of times and the only answers they gave me is that they will inform me via email/call, so I am hoping to get their call/email by tomorrow or next Monday...so i assume i can start to request for police certificate after i get the email from the embassy. Hope it helps.

Congratulations. You do not have to wait any longer to request a PC in HK or any other country you may have lived. Requirements for other country's is that a PC is required from any country you may have lived since age 16 for more than 6 months. Find out what the specific requirements here http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

Spend some time at the HK US Embassy website and read up on what the requirements are and what is next. Here is the link: https://hk.usconsulate.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee/the-interview/

Spend sometime in the sub forums for China/HK found here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/  There are many experts that can help you along. Most here in this forum are trying to get their arms around their own process and most have very little knowledge for HK procedures.

First off, it's very confusing that you are quoting so many other answers that it makes your recent posting that much more confusing.  If you want to quote someone's answer, there is a line at the bottom of the entry that says "quote". Select it once and then below the quoted verbiage (outside their box) enter your reply.

Second, where is your fiancé living now? London or Pakistan?

Sorry for the confusion my fiancé lives in Pakistan but at the time when I filed the case my fiancé was in London. It's strange that the NVC gave me the visa number yesterday starting with ISL then today when I called again to get my INV ID # they gave me a new case # starting with LND and told me I have contact London embassy now directly to transfer my file to Pakistan.

Hello Everyone,

I have an honest question. My fiance has a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a teaching assistant for two years and quit his job in 2016 to prepare for the government job exams in India which are usually very difficult and require a lot of preparation. He did work for another few months last year but quit again when I went to meet him the second time so we could spend some good time together. Since then he has been preparing to come to the US such as learning how to drive, studying for the English language test so he can continue his education once we are married and settled.

Now my question is this, will the immigration look at the unemployment since 2016 to sometime until last year and then leaving the second job again before I went to meet his second time as a warning sign of some sort that he is just trying to come to America since he has no stable job in India? In our culture our family supports the boys until they get settled, so financially there is no problem.

We were filling out the DS160 and it asks current job etc. We chose the unemployed and it asks for an explanation. We want to be honest but could it backfire on us? I don't want the immigration to think he is only with me so he could immigrate to America for a better future.

Any suggestions or insights, please? Thank you.

First thing I must tell you is to ALWAYS be honest. If you are asked a question, whether on a form or at the interview, you are obligated to answer truthfully. Failing to answer truthfully is grounds for a DECLINE. I can tell from your note that you want to be truthful but you don't want to fail at this. So be truthful.

The CO who will interview your case at the Embassy is not instructed to approve or disapprove an applicant based if he/she is employed. Now, they may want to ask why and your answer is, that he left his position to study for his exams. Sweet, short and to the point.

Let me give you some advice, and for others who are reading this for them to understand something also. When you are in front of the CO, you are obligated to be truthful and answer the questions that are presented to you. I have seen in person how an interview can go bad real fast. CO's are trained to uncover the truth. So, look the CO in the eye, and with confidence, answer their questions. Keep your answers short and to the point and don't ramble on with your answer. Rambling only gives the CO more information to use to ask more questions which can send the interview in the wrong direction with no intent on your fiancés part.

I wish you the best in your quest for a visa. Remember SHORT TRUTHFUL answers.

Again. Don't cut and paste use the "quote" at the bottom of the reply. See the box around your entry. That box also includes my answer from your previous entry. It gets very confusing trying to follow the conversation.

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from one Embassy to another U.S. Embassy/Consulate, please contact the appropriate U.S. Embassy/Consulate directly in the country where you wish to apply and follow their instructions for case transfer. Please click here for the full list of all U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas.

The old Embassy will need to receive a formal file transfer request from that U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply. Upon receipt of this request, they will immediately forward the file for the New Embassy to process.

Once you contact your New Embassy you then can discuss the transfer of your fee. Be sure to have your payment receipt available.

I have. But some of the things here are done differently. Like example the police clearance, i went to the police station and requested for one, they asked mo for which purpose, then i said for my k1 visa interview, they immediately said they will not process it until i have my appointment letter. Looks like i really have to wait for the embassy to send me info before i can even prepare stuff.

If you can schedule your interview appointment then take a screen shot of your interview confirmation that should satisfy them.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question.
