Hello Everyone,

I’m a bit annoyed at my immigration attorney’s paralegal and could use your advice. I’ve only asked her two questions in the past and she responds as if she hasn’t read my email. Her replies are very broad copy and paste responses to simple questions.

Monday I wrote her an email stating that we received our NVC number and she sent me a unprofessional DS 160 form that I ended up re-typing. I then sent her an email today telling her that we made our medical appointment and that we need the DS 160 confirmation number so that my fiancé can make our Embassy appointment.

I received the most generic copy paste response…That basically read… Our office as already told you, the USICS has to send the file to NVC to be processed which can take up to two months and the Embassy will tell you when your appointment is. ( I took out all the other nonsense)

I basically replied… As per the email you ignored ( I was much nicer), this is why everything you said is wrong…. She hasn’t replied.

So…. What is your thoughts? I’m thinking of emailing the attorney and telling him to pull my file from her and give it to someone else.  Should I push hard for the DS 160 confirmation?

I’m really trying to get my fiancé and kids here at the beginning of the school year, but the way the legal assistant is acting… I’m not feeling that I’m a property…

Sorry.. Half venting… Half needing advice…

@TBoneTX please is there a way I can delete my post? Please help me on this. I think only you can do it. Thank you so much in advance

Why don't you edit your post? Delete the words, replace them by a dot or whatever and as reason why you edited the post write something like posted by mistake. I edited posts sometimes, so I think, this should work

I tried doing that but I think you can only edit a post after a couple of minutes and when the given time to edit is over the edit word on the bottom will be gone.

What country is the beneficiary from, a lot of answers depend on that (please fill out your profile).

I thought the DS-160 was filled out online for everyone?

Honestly, unless you have some weird scenario, you probably don't need an attorney to help you. It's not super hard to look up all the steps you need to do yourself and with the resrouces on here.

Again, fill out your country, and check the "Portals" in the menu bar up top for your countries portal.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I was filling in everything correctly, but I'll go and play around with it now. My fiancé is from the United Kingdom. We most likely don't need an attorney; however, we do have a little possible hiccup that could require one. I didn't find this site until we were well on our way. Our journey started with a few court battles before we could even apply, nearly two years worth. We are very lucky.

We got our Invoice ID at the same time we got our NVC# from the same person we called at NVC. I would call NVC back again and ask for the Invoice ID if you already have the NVC#. I hope this helps. :)

Since a lot of ppl are at the stage of accessing the CEAC website with their NVC case number, please scroll up a few pages. The procedure has been discussed quite frequently lately.

Might I suggest you scroll to the bottom of this page to the blue banner and select "follow" to follow this thread and all topics that are posted in it. The resources and the procedure to follow your case from NVC to your embassy is laid out.

Timeline

Hello everyone!

Just want to share the update for my timeline and ask a few questions.

NoA1: 9 Nov 2017

NoA2: 31 May 2018

NVC: In Transit since 26 Jun 2018

So now I just need to wait for the update from the US consulate in Hong Kong..and I would like to know if anyone has any clue to the below questions:

1.I am the beneficiary and both of my fiance and i don't have a job now, he just moved back to the states from hong kong and still looking for a job, I quit mine a few months ago because I want to spend more time with my family, so in case he doesn't get an offer before my interview date, I am thinking just providing his bank statement for the past year and proof of savings, and his previous employment letter in Hong Kong (not sure if it would help) and previous US tax return? He has enough savings which is no problem for us to live for another few years without a job but my question is, is having a job or income a MUST for this stage and also for the interview? Or we have to find a sponsor? Thank you!

2. I just recently get my HK passport but all my previous US related visas are in my China passport, and when we applied for I-129F, i only provided copies for my China passport. I just checked DS-160 and it asked about passports and nationalities, and does it have to be consistent with the I-129F as I want to use my HK passport, or I have to keep consistent and use China passport to obtain the K1 visa? As I am concerning about after entering US and apply for the green card, it has to attach to a passport right? But i plan to give up my china passport so just wondering if a green card is attached with my China passport, would it be fine if my China passport expires next year? Or it's individual and doesnt matter which passport I am using. Sorry if it's a bit confusing and any advises will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!
