IV is to watch for status updates for the stage from the NVC to your embassy. (Use NVC case #).

NIV is to watch for status updates after your interview to see the process of Visa processing/approval/issued. (Use the DS160#).

Hi Everyone,

Just trying to gauge the processing time from receiving NVC case # to application being sent to consulate/embassy.

Our Case # was generated on 6/14

As of today it is still at NVC

Anyone's application left the NVC recently? If so, when did you get your case #? Thank you!

I broke down the paperwork into smaller packets of information with quick release paper binders.

They are technically not folders, they are more like books.

Hi @BluesDancer I'm just curious about something. So on the interview the application that was submitted are needed as well? What I mean is that all the documents that we submitted with i129f are needed to be brought to the embassy during the interview? Am I right?

The only reason to send the I-129F is for the beneficiary to know more about the petitioner.  This was a step that @bluesdancer decided to do to help out his beneficiary.  It is not a requirement to have a I-129F at the interview for any and this embassy.  Since I do not know from your profile what country you are applying and I'm not able to help you with your embassy requirements.  If you complete your profile were better able to serve you with answering your questions.  Because all embassies are not the same in their requirements. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer.

If you look at the profile others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa".

Technically the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa but it is treated like an immigrant visa because of the AOS. It is kind of a ba$tard. Non-immigrant treated like an immigrant. Other non-immigrant visas do not usually end up with green cards!  The K-1 on its own is a single entry, short time limit visa that expires 90 days after POE. That is why it is a non-immigrant visa treated like an immigrant visa.

I would say not all the documents are needed like the I-129F. What if they accidentally lost some of your information after they approved your paperwork and then asked for that information that was originally submitted. Be prepared for the unexpected. At CFO for the Philippines, they can and have been known to ask for random documents and information. This is where having the original package in hand can save you from delays or possibly being  denied not being able to answer the questions in a timely manner. Most likely what we have in packets E for the petitioner and F for the beneficiary is what my fiance will mostly use to get approved. Originally submitted Packets A through D will be used mostly to reference information as needed. I hope this information is helpful into why I am arming my fiance with the full arsenal all the paperwork in hand for the interview.

Hi everyone,

I've searched through old posts and I couldn't find the exact answers I was looking for....so I'm looking for some help.

We're in the process of applying for a K-1 visa. I've seen different information in different places regarding when a police report is needed. Is it 6 or 12 months for living in another country?

Do I need to apply for police reports for countries over 6 months or just or over 12 months?

If I have to get all the police reports....does anyone know how I would go about applying for Japan?

Thanks all for your help

I have to point out that no, it is not the same journey. That is very misconstrued. Sure the process through USCIS is very similar for everyone but once your petition leaves NVC the procedure varies HUGELY from embassy to embassy. Many ppl do not understand that and if you will scroll up you will see that it is extremely common for ppl to think that each embassy follows the same procedure and then ask questions expecting easy answers which is impossible because everyone is from a different country. You are asking questions that are specific to SA therefore either research must be done about your embassy or as advised, you could ask your lawyer who is paid the big bucks to know all of the details about your particular embassy.

Great summation of the process. @BluesDancer opened a can of worms but not intentionally as he was sharing his steps on his journey. As you pointed out his process for the Philippines is different then from SA as well as any other Embassy. Sometimes lawyers understand one Embassy well but at times they have applied that information to all Embassy's and it's just not true. This is why I chime in and try and either correct the false information or point the VJ member to other locations for background information and interruption such as their Embassy, their Packet 3 letter, VJ portals or sub-forums. Thanks for adding your perspective to this issue.

The rule of thumb to use is, that a police Report is required for any country that you have lived in for 6 months or longer since the age of 16. Here is the link to find the countries that you may have lived in that you require a police Certificate from. If you discover that you cannot get a police clearance from a country then print off that information as a screenshot and bring it with your interview to your interview. Your CO will probably know that it's not available but just in case bring the document to show that you are unable to get it. Some countries require you to be in country and order get a police certificate.

Thanks!!

Anybody with NOA2 date from June 8th already received the case number? I called NVC today and they didn't receive my case yet. What I find strange is that they ask me if it is a I-130 petition.. it is the second time they ask me that after I provide my WAC number. Should I be worried that they mix my case with someone else with a I-130f petition?
