Hi everyone -

Our case has had Ready status since the end of June.  NVC says packet was mailed to him on July 16 but he has yet to receive it and we're getting a bit worried. We have most of the documentation (police certificates, etc.) completed and ready to go but haven't filled out the DS-160 yet. He has yet to complete his medical as well, as we were waiting on the instruction packet to make sure everything was done perfectly. Now I'm not so sure. We have emailed and called the embassy several times, only to receive that they're having "technical difficulties with K1 cases with the electronic attachments." They also keep saying that as soon as this issue is resolved, that they will schedule my fiance's appointment. We're thinking the last part is a general response since he needs the packet before he can schedule the interview in the first place.

I know there aren't many people right now going through the same embassy (Colombo, Sri Lanka), but I'm mostly just wondering if anyone is familiar with these "technical difficulties" the embassy is talking about. Our NOA2 is set to expire on Oct. 4 2018.

To sum it all up ...

Is anyone familiar with such technical difficulties or have the slightest idea of what may be going on?

What should we be doing at the moment besides gathering the remaining documents -

should we fill the DS-160 and schedule his medical already?

Is our timeframe okay? How long does it usually take for the beneficiary to receive instruction packet after Ready status?

If needed, how can we extend the validity of our NOA2?

Any advice appreciated

Hi,

I know how much it is frustrated to wait. But this is common for all. He can call the embassy and ask or you can write inquiring whether they received it. Was it too long from "in transit" status to "ready" status?

In Asiri hospital, ask him to select Dr. Geetha, not Dr. Nimal. She is so quick and for Dr. Nimal I had to wait whole day at the hospital.

ROC Process:

Submitted I-751: August 4, 2018

Received by California ofis : August 6, 2018

NOA1 date : August 29, 2018

Biometrics date : March 29, 2019

@Greenbaum, Save check case is used after POE to see if your I94 info has been input into the "system". Its useful to check when you are wanting to go get your SSN but are unsure if your immigration status has been updated before you head to SS to apply.

@saeric, you will have to wait the appropriate 10-14 days. I'm checking daily too!

It looks like there was some kind of miscommunication as I find the review to be a bit exaggerated. Their petition is only in administrative review as well. I'm sure they would find out when they received the hard copy of the 221g sent to them. But I highly doubt the CO would not take the VA and SS supplementary documents.

My guess is they filled out the I134 income amount to not include the VA and SS benefits and just expected to explain after with the documents rather than including it in the income total in the first place. I highly doubt the scenario as explained in the review.

I have a tendency to agree with the fact that " they filled out the I134 income amount to not include the VA and SS benefits and just expected to explain after with the documents rather than including it in the income total in the first place" that you explained. When someone has supplementary income, like VA and/or SS I advise them to include in the income on the I-134.  I did this for my wife's interview and we had no problems with income.

Some Embassy's are weird like that where they pretty much decide the interview over and that's the end of it. Reasoning I am sure is so a scene is not created in front of other applicants and no time for arguments. They close their books, hand a paper to you, tell you go to window such and such for further information.

Of course. But even though your I94 has been activated does not mean your immigration status has been updated in the system for SSA to issue you a card. Save check case is the system. You can check if your I94/status has been input into it so you wont have any waiting issues when you attend the Social Security office.

When we processed, and of course changes could have occurred since then, but we printed off the I-94 and took it to our office. I just helped someone a week or so ago and they were able to get their SS without any problems using that method.

For me the issue is I cannot get to the SS office that easily. My fi works 12 hour days and there is no public transportation here so he will have to take a day off work to bring me 1.5 hours into the city. The Save Check Case website is an online status checker that I can check to ensure my I94 is in the system. It's the same system that SSA uses to check the same thing that will allow me to apply without any delays or me having to return.

I'm not about waiting the prescribed 14 days and hoping my I94 is in the system to process my SSN. I cant hope. It has to be in the system before i go.

Ask for them to email it to you instead, I had the same issue, luckily it was emailed as well as mailed. I just received my packet in the mail last week even though it was mailed out the 2nd week of July. weeks after I set the appointment and 1 week before the interview.

The system doesn't show sometimes because of the same problem (mismatch as they call) and it has nothing to do with I-94 being in the system.

I just went ahead and they checked it themselves I got my SSN with mismatch so they sent verification. But it still only took 3 weeks altogether and I didn't go to the office twice. You go once and apply, the rest is done by them. you will be in the system for I-94 (take a copy of it with you still) but save system may still not see you. however again, you won't go there twice they will just send you the card.

I am not aware of any Embassy requiring the NOA2 but if it is your P3 letter from your Embassy, please provide one as instructed. I believe that you will need a copy for your AOS after marriage but there is a thread that address's this issue From <http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/323385-filing-for-aos-with-lost-noa2/>
