What goes up must come down.  It’s true in physics, and it’s true in economics.  That’s why we say life is full of ups and downs, not life is full of positive slopes.

Well, it is and it isn't. Predictions aren't meant to be prohpecies, but it's entirely dependent on market internals as I've pointed out before. When these turn negative, a market drop isn't far behind - such was the case in 2015. But when they're positive, you can be neutral or bullish in my opinion, depending on valuations. Because right now we have a situation where valuations are terrible, but internals are positive, I am neutral. When internals turn negative again, I'll bring the bear back out. But you are correct, exact timelines are impossible, because the market can be irrational for a very long time.
