Hi there,

Wow I’m so sorry that you had a bad experience! Made me really worried about my upcoming interview (5/9 in ATL)..

Have you heard something since then?

Do you have a lawyer?

Have you filed N-400 basd on marriage, but you have divorced? Sorry trying to understand the situation..

Do you think that traveling outside the US after filing N-400 was the issue or the taxes?

I sure hope and pray for good results in the nearest future... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I received a letter asking for divorce decree( however, I have included that with my app), my marriage certificate ( got married again), payment agreement setup with IRS( don’t know how to show that if I have only filed late April ).

I don’t have a lawyer. I have a unique situation, I have never thought about applying to citizenship ( been resident already for 10 years) maybe I am the only one here with this situation ( everyone else files within 3 years married or 5 if not).

All I can say that, this center is not the best in giving you immediate approval upon finishing your interview( this is the vibe I got from the IO)  This just my 2 cents.

I’m also applying after 10 years of being a permanent resident, also divorced and re-married but no IRS issues (filed every year on time, no money owed). My Interview is this Saturday, May 4th in Atlanta. I plan on bringing copies and originals of EVERY document attached to the online application. Also hoping for more luck on a Saturday as I hear that  IOs are more laid back on those days.

Good luck. Yeah, I have always filed on time no issues in the past years. I had to file late in 2018 only to be able to sponsor my wife.

Best of luck with all of that .. it does sound like you have a very unique case! I hope everything gets situated for you and you get the Oath ceremony scheduled as soon as possible..

Saturday? Wow I have never heard about a Saturday interview! Can’t wait to hear about your experience, my interview is in a week (May 9th)... Best of Luck!

I was skeptical as well but did some research to put my mind at ease... Some service centers have Saturday appointments (interviews only) even when official hours say Monday - Friday. I even found a user on here (Life_love) who had a Saturday interview in ATL with a positive outcome. Keeping fingers crossed!

Sounds great! I honestly give them a credit for processing some cases on a Saturday!

Good luck .. keep us posted!

Same here! Saturday interviews sure give hope to people that they really are trying to move things along in ATL. Here is the link to that Saturday interview if anyone interested.

So I had my citizenship interview in Atlanta USCIS office today and was approved! Just to recap the experience... all went a lot better than I ever imagined. My interview was scheduled for 12pm and I arrived about 30 minutes early, went through security and then headed to the reception. I was asked to show the appointment notice, then given a ticket with a number and directed to the second floor. There was a huge waiting room but only 6(!) people in it. Me and my husband (who came for moral support ) sat down and waited for less than 15 minutes and my number was called before it was even 12 o’clock! The IO, a young man who seemed to be in his early 30’s, was very polite and nice. I went through all the usual stuff of swearing in to tell the truth, fingerprints for index fingers and taking the picture. He then asked for my green card, driver’s license and passport. He confirmed that I have been a permanent resident since 2009 and asked for my marriage certificate and divorce decrees (both of us have been previously married and divorced). He reviewed the rest of my personal info and said that he will now proceed to the US history and government test. I answered the first 6 questions correctly (I cannot recall all of them... it seems like a blur now since I have been studying excessively for this test LOL) The questions I do recall are: 1. What is one promise you make when you become a US citizen? (answered: give up loyalties to other countries and serve in U.S. Military if needed) 2. Who is the Chief Justice of the United States now? (answered: John Roberts) 3. When must all men register for selective services? (answered: between the ages of 18 and 26) 4. Who signs bills to become laws? (answered: the President) 5. What is the political party of the President now? (answered: Republican)... and I seriously cannot remember question #6 but he stopped after only 6 since I got all of them right. He then asked me to read a sentence on the screen “Who can vote?” and then write “Citizens can vote”. Obviously I have no problem writing in English (even leaned cursive in college...) but the stylus pen was very tricky to work with and IO patiently cleared the screen on my request twice (!)  before I could write out one short sentence. LOL! He then proceeded to go over my application and make some corrections because some answers were missing... As some users here mentioned in the past, when you submit your application online your answers can go missing even after you reviewed the entire form a million times... My missing answers were related to Nazi party (neither me or my parents were even born then!) and also the number of marriages for me & my husband, number of children, were my parents married before my 18th birthday... Very random stuff! He went over my employment history and congratulated as I just celebrated 14 years with the same company. IO asked if we have only one child listed on application and last time I traveled out of the country. He then had me sign for all the changes to the application and proceeded to all other questions with Yes or No answers. IO read from the computer screen and only looked up at me from time to time... specifically when asking if I ever lied to an immigration officer or other government official ))) I expected to be grilled on the dates of birth, marriages, divorces.... but got none of those questions. There was of course a number of questions pertaining to filing taxes but he never asked for any tax documents. I then had to review my personal information on the screen and confirm that everything was correct. He printed out form N-652 with ‘You passed the English test and US history and government test’ and ‘A: Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval’. We then walked towards the exit and he paused to take copies of the documents I provided. I was reading the form while waiting on him since I was a bit confused about the whole “recommended for approval” part... But he came back, handed me all of my documents and said ‘Congratulations! See you in about a month for the ceremony.’ Sorry for such a long “recap” and just want to conclude that Saturday appointments do seem to be more “laid back” although I have nothing to compare mine to but based on other stories. IOs and reception people seemed young which makes one wonder if they have junior associates work on weekends... I obviously came over-prepared BUT was asked for documents I already attached to my online application and never thought they would actually ask for again - examples: divorce decree for my current husband and his previous spouse and also copy of my current AND old passport (that I no longer have but happened to have a copy of...) The whole interview took less then 30 minutes even with my application corrections and stylus malfunction LOL Good luck to everyone who is preparing for their interview! If you take anything away from this story is come over-prepared! Your never know who your IO will be and what they may ask for. Try to relax too (easier said than done!) and I think I was able to fully exhale after a martini at lunch!
