You need to obtain police clearance certificate from passport seva (nearest passport office) by scheduling your appointment online. Although many say that local police clearance certificate is not required, I got one just in case :D

You have to book an appointment online and go in person with necessary documents they ask for. Police Clearance Certificate is given at Passport Seva. There is no Passport Clearance.

So, I received two messages from the NVC on May 24th - one asking me to resubmit my birth certificate (which I did within 30 min) and the other one was to additionally submit my husbands W2 under my beneficiary's section of civil documents (which I also did within 30 min).

I have not heard back from the NVC so far - do you guys know what the current process is? Does that mean the package goes back to the bottom of the pile?

I received the same request (May 25th), but mine was police certificate (Brazil needs two) + W2. However they didn't specify where to upload the W2, so we just did in the petitioner part, as an additional document. I hope I don't get another check list :(

hello! (:

Does anyone knows how long the Rio de Janeiro embassy takes to schedule an interview for IR1?

Got cc since May 1st, and my status online only says "AT NVC" since then...

That has been a long wait! :o I would call them to ask! I have seen some cases that when you call after CC, you get a interview date right away. I don't know if it always work, but I hope it does for you! And hoping it doesn't take this long to everyone there!

I'm a couple of months behind you guys. If you look at the spreadsheet in the case complete to interview thread, you can see that other people in Brazil usually have their interviews within about two months of the cc so something strange does seem to be happening in your case. I tried calling very early in the morning twice and I got through without even having to wait on hold, so if you can't get through to them today, try again tomorrow morning shortly after they open. I'd like to know what they tell you. Good luck!

My husband got it done last November. Appointments were available immediately and they gave the report the same day. Availability and collecting of report depends on individual passport center. Check the next available date for your city.

Good f**ing grief, I realized on my flight that one of the fields in the AOS form was off (income field for 2017, last two digits reversed) and therefore incorrect. I quickly had my spouse add/submit amended version to Additional Documentation in AOS section with a note added. Hope they read the new one, otherwise, checklist for us. Damnit.

I have a question for people who have already gotten their cc. I know that in the NVC process guidelines on VisaJourney (which seem to have been written a while ago), it says that even though the State Department clearly states that you do not need a translation for police certificates and birth certificates in certain cases (eg, if it is in the official language of the country where you'll have your interview), people get checklists for not having a translation. Has anyone recently gotten a checklist because they didn't translate these documents that are not required to be translated? Here's the text from the NVC website about the rule. I'd just like to avoid paying for unnecessary translations if this hasn't been an issue recently.

"All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa, must be accompanied by certified translations." https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-5-collect-supporting-documents.html
