Hey everyone,

I was confused about what the "Petitioner's Civil Documents" item on our checklist was, and I think I found an answer on the USDOS website:

Summary:

My understanding is that this item is only for petitioners who have been previously married, and you can mark 'Not Applicable' for this item if the petitioner has no previous marriages.

If I'm wrong, please let me know and I will update this post!

Otherwise, I thought I would post this in case anyone else gets confused like I did!

Going back to this old post: do we need to submit petitioner civil documents only in these cases (eg, previous marriage)? Also if we have already submitted the i-130, do we need to submit a marriage certificate again at this stage? My understanding is that for simple spouse of US citizen cases without previous marriages, where i-130 has already been approved, the only civil documents necessary are the petitioner's passport bio page, birth certificate, and criminal records, and nothing from the petitioner. Is that right? Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Marriage certificate is part of the required documents at NVC stage as well, even though we submit this with I-130 application. Hope this helps!!

Correction: I mean that I think we only need to submit the BENEFICIARY'S passport bio page, birth certificate, and criminal records, and nothing from the petitioner for simple spouse of USC cases where there was no previous marriage and i-130 was filed. I am not sure about this so I am looking for confirmation. Thank you!

Secondly how to pay greencard fees before going ?

You’ll need fern insteuctions on how to pay the USCIS immigrant fee when you pick up your visa. You go online enter the case number and A number and then you pay with credit card.

Include EVERYTHING on the checklist you received. The beneficiary needs to provide proof of US status, and other documents to qualify as a financial sponsor.

And you must submit that marriage certificate copy again at this stage. And the original must be brought to the interview.

Don't delay your application by leaving things out.

Why is everybody going to the supervisor review..even after waiting for 8 weeks. I have got time i suppose. My nvc received date is may 7th

I am also at 8 weeks today. I waited till the very last second to call before they closed shop.. the rude woman told me that the office that is working on cases would still be open for another 30minutes (12:30 EDT)and I should call back in the morning to go to a supervisor if I don’t hear anything ... seriously?  You’re going to give me a case number and invoice number in less than 30 minutes never mind the eight weeks you’ve been sitting on it? All she could say is “stranger things have happened ..they work pretty fast over there they can get a lot done in 30 minutes” If that’s the case I should have it already?! What in the world is going on over there?
