Hi everyone,

A couple months ago I filed the I-751 waiver based on divorce and abuse  Checked both boxes. Now I moved recently and been trying to update my address but its been giving me a hard time. First, I tried to change it online but it did not work and then sent in an AR 11 to directly the Vermont Center. After like two months im at the point where the customer reps when i call USCIS they say they still have my old address on file. Went to an infopass appointment the lady said she couldn't manually change my address that i should send a letter and another ar 11. I did and no changes yet. I have been trying to get a hold of a tier 2 officer on the phone but they never call me back.

Today I called the uscis number again and the tier 1 rep said that he was prohibited from giving me any more i information and that i should send them a letter with another ar 11. Again.

Anyone experienced the same??What is going on. It should be a simple thing to change my address.. Also he asked if my case was wava. I told him no I already have my greencard its a I 751 altho includes abuse as I checked both boxes along with divorced waiver..

He gave me the vermont service centers address and as an attn. Wava unit.

What should I do? I m just worried that my case is pending and they still have my old address on file.

Call back and dont hang up until you talk to a tier 2.  You are not vawa.  That tier 1 is an idiot.

I ve been calling then everyday and had 2 call back scheduled yhe last couple of days i was waiting for a tier 2 to call back but nothing.. I wish they would just let me stay on the line but as soon as the call is transferred to a tier 2 its the robot.. Telling me about the wait time and scheduling call back.. I just do not know why my address isnt getting updated after all the ar 11s that i sent in and all that.

Tell them you do NOT want a call back.  You will wait.   If it hangs up call them back. At midnight try scheduling an infopass.

Also ask them what is the address you have on file?

I have been dealing with this for months now. I went to infopass as well the lady there said she sees that they received my ar 11. But its not in the system and she told me to mail another one in. Etc. She could not update my address.. And yea i still had and have my old address on file.

Whenever i call them it doesnt even give me the option to stay on the line on hold for tier 2. It automatically schedules for call back. The robot i mean.

Maybe because the waiver based on abuse/divorce  as well the vermont vawa unit handles my case and some sort of privacy thing wont let me change the address? I have no idea.

Abuse waivers are handled by the VAWA unit in Vermont. You will not be able to speak to anybody on the phone or at infopass. Everything has to be done by mail. Did you send a letter along with the AR11? Send another one and wait up to 30 days for them to process it.

So i assume just cause its not fully but partially an abuse waiver its still handled by them?

I have sent 2 letters already and its been more than 30days on both of them. I guess i have to send another one stating that as the applicant/petitioner after 2 unsuccessful attempts im still trying to change my addresss.. And how will i find out if its gonna get updated?

Typically the VAWA unit handles all the abuse waivers. There has been instances where other service centers process them though. But they prefer to have all the abuse waivers sent to Vermont if possible. The adjudicators at Vermont are specially trained to handle abuse claims. So you kinda want your abuse waiver to go there since they are the most knowledgeable.

Check the address you are sending to and try to send it with some sort of tracking number. Send a letter and the AR form. If you still dont get a response try contacting your congressman/senator for assistance in changing it.
