oooh mine is in Charleston, not Atlanta.

Atlanta would be like 4-5 hours away... At least this is an advantage, and seems the processing time in Charleston is a loooot

quicker than ATL too. But Charleston is one of the prettiest cities on the east coast so I'll find things to do for sure

yeah lucky us, i think for once, they did think this process through and went logical by zip code and put you to the closest one!

I just got off the phone with the SSA (local number) and the lady was able to confirm with me that my card was sent out Tuesday 6/12. That is one day after I was first able to find an open case on my I-94 number in the SAVE database. So unless the card gets lost I should have it by the beginning of next week! Mine is is Birmingham for biometrics. I know, because of the time i did my Naturalization. It's pretty quick though. My local USCIS FO on the other hand....changed from Atlanta to Montgomery. The Montgomery office was opened somewhere in 2017 and went from backlogged to even longer times at Montgomery. But i can read from another thread in VJ various timelines. They process not by case type, but by PD. However, that means longer times so far.

Hope you get one soon also. Did you try to put in the Alien#, Passport and I-94? Try all 3 and maybe one will show up. That happened to us. I think we are going through all the gamut of possible stages of SS#. It went back in time to approved ---> under review. ???? clueless as to why, while @LizM got hers already and another VJ received a letter and her SS# also.

Yes, we've searched his passport number and I-94; he doesn't have an A#.

 

It's definitely frustrating, but probably like everything else - just luck of the draw, no rhyme or reason to it.

My e-notifications took 5 days. But the $1,225 was reserved on my husband's credit card just the day after the package was delivered. That is usually a sign they accepted it

so , after I get my green card , should I get a new ss card? Anyone knows?

Holy cow. I'm actually PLEASANTLY speechless for once. Paul just called me at work to tell me he checked the mail at home, and his Social Security Number/card came!!! I can't believe it. We were mentally prepared to be waiting the 4-6 weeks. I'm so relieved! He said it has "valid for work only with DHS authorization", but I feel like I read a comment somewhere that this is what they typically say. I'm assuming because he doesn't have an EAD yet maybe...? AT ANY RATE - having the number is amazing, even if the card has to be updated at some point. Woohoo!!!

My husband just got his today and it says the same. I'm thinking perhaps it's because there's no EAD/work permit yet...? Meaning he can't use it for working purposes until that happens.

 

At any rate - your number should never change, even if you have to update the card at some point.

So, we just came back from the SSA office. This is frustrating to say the least. The nice person at the SSA office told us they sent the required documentation to DHS. DHS has not verified the documentation still, after 3 weeks!!! The SSA is still waiting for them to respond to verify documents the DHS already has. I can only say we drew the short stick on manual verification + snail mailing it in. Hope everyone else doesn't have this kinda delays. This means, no nothing for my wife so far. No signing up for language school, or anything. So mad right now. EAD is required for DL in Alabama.
