Police Information Check in Canada - Is this document ok?

Are any K1 applicants from Ontario Canada? Or are you at a point where you are about to complete your Interview in Montreal? I requested my police check which took over a month to get from my local police. To my surprise, my clearance certificate or "Police Information Check" was a photocopy of the form I completed by hand at the police station with the back of that form also hand completed by the station stating everything all searches were "negative" there is also an embossed seal stamped on the form. So yes, all of this is correct and as expected since I have  no record but I'm worried that this looks too informal even though this is the only police certificate other than a finger print generated one they give (which I believe is only needed if you DO have a record).

Does any one else's local police complete Police Checks the same way???? Did anyone else receive a form like this as the final certificate of clearance? Did Montreal accept it? Montreal won't answer my questions since I don't have an NVC Case #. The front of the form does say that I am authorizing them to check CPIC and the "national criminal records depository"...

I just don't want to get to a point where I am at the interview and this doesn't suffice... and all the examples i've seen online from Canadians have different looks depending on which province or town they were requested from...

If you've never been convicted of a crime you dont need fingerprints.  A name check with CPIC would suffice.  Mine was pretty much hand written with the printed name check on the bottom and their seal.

I'd you dont feel comfortable with it check with the OPP or get a name check with the Toronto City Police or commissionaires.

Yours sounds fine though.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure others received similar formats. I asked the London Police (i'm in London Ontario) and they said that is the only one they do. But it sounds like you pretty much had the same one given to you. So thats comforting!

Apparently only the police in the region you reside (and can prove you reside in via Drivers License, mail, etc) can do it for you... the lady that was processing my request a month ago was training someone and actually said to her that in the past only the Commissionaires could do police checks that would be sent outside of the country, now that falls under the local police's jurisdiction as well so you don't go to Commissionaires anymore... who knew :)

I've never had someone on here say they haven't been able to do the commissionaires despite having local police.  I went to the rcmp because my city didnt have local police.

That sounds about about right. I had to go the the OPP because I lived out of the city limits. So yes it's normal for them to say that they only do ppl in their area.
