Expedite EAD?

Does anyone know if there is a way to expedite the EAD process?

USCIS reviews all expedite requests on a case-by-case basis and requests are granted at the discretion of the office leadership. The burden is on the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met.

• Severe financial loss to company or person;
• Emergency situation;
• Humanitarian reasons;
• Nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States;
• Department of Defense or national interest situation (These particular expedite requests must come from an official U.S. government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to the government.);
• USCIS error; or
• Compelling interest of USCIS.

In addition to the above, it's not uncommon to be able to request an expedite if you have a firm job offer. Even that is taking some time nowadays, but it's something.

 

Call USCIS to request the expedite, if you meet the criteria. They may request additional documentation within a few days of the request.

Awesome!  My hubby said he thought he saw that somewhere but not sure where.  Just wanted to see if anyone else had any info or input.  Thank you!

It would technically fall under the "Severe financial loss" category...since one may lose the job (companies don't hold jobs forever) and all income from it would be lost.

I was wondering if that could be used.  My husband is planning on going to a job fair in about 2 weeks and he was sort of hoping to walk away with an offer...but in the real world that may not be possible.  But at least there may be some way to speed up the process.

Telling USCIS to expedite the EAD so that one may carry it to a job fair may not get it expedited. But if he comes out with an offer from the job fair, and the offering company can provide a letter and the period after which the offer will expire, that may work.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking.  Between the job fair and friends helping him look, I think we will have some kind of offer soon.  But again, in reality it could take just as long to find something.
