Hello, I'm a us Citizen and we are getting my husband's visa. He does not have a visa yet and will need to go out to Juarez for his interview, his waiver has been approved but now i have no idea how we're going to get to Juarez. I was thinking flight to El paso and take a taxi to the hotel but he is afraid of immigration since all he had is the Mexican passport and mexican ids. Would it be safe for him to travel that way or would be have to take a road trip?

Thank you!!

If he does not have a US visa then he can't travel to the US.

No, he is currently in the USA right now and going back out to Mexico for the interview in the USA.

OP. You can certainly fly down there but make sure you bring all your paperwork with you when you go.

Ahh. If that is the case then yes, he can fly to El Paso. I was under the impression he was still in Mexico.

I've read this four times and I still don't understand it. He is in the US illegally and needs to get to Mexico for his interview? And you're worried he could get stopped on the way there?

If so then he should fly directly to Mexico. El Paso, as a border town, has more border patrol presence. But you should clarify your situation because each reply so far has interpreted this differently.

@Teemo you are right, yes i am worried about border patrol stoping him on his way to Mexico. I wasn't sure how to get the point across without making the question super long.

Understood. Yes if he goes to an airport and takes an international flight to Mexico then there is only a small chance they would ask to see any US documentation, they are mostly concerned with security (ie he has valid ID) and proper documentation to get him into Mexico.  But avoid border towns or airports that have higher than average CBP presence such as Miami or Puerto Rico. Good luck!

If while in the El Paso airport he's questioned by CBP, he should show his complete paperwork and explain that he's returning to Juarez to pursue the proper process.

Depending on your departure airport, CBP might not be present at the TSA checkpoint or roaming the corridors.  Nevertheless, the solution is the same as above.
